This circular ride starts and finishes at the Park Life Cafe in Burgess Park, Chumleigh Gardens, London, SE5 0RJ. A cycle map from East Dulwich to the cafe is here: https://cycle.travel/map/journey/129745. It starts at East Dulwich station but if that's not right for you, the map is easy to tweak though you may have to register first. Highly recommended cycle map-maker by the way.

Going back to the ride itself, the idea is to explore west on the south side of the river aiming for Wandsworth Park. The outward route will go via Vauxhall and Battersea Power Station to Battersea Park. Then round the park and on to the nice paths along the Battersea and Wandsworth riverside, eventually reaching Wandsworth Park. If time, the leaders will consider going further to have a look at the rowers on the Putney Embankment and a coffee break in Wandsworth Park. Sadly definitely not time for a round on the well-maintained Crazy Golf Course.

The return route has great contrasts. The group will come back along the river to the bridge over Bell Lane Creek, at the mouth of the River Wandle and then head south into Wandsworth town centre along shared use pavement and across cycle crossings to avoid the traffic on the 1-way system. Next comes King George?s Park with a nice path by the Wandle and at the south end of the park, there's a turn to the left to head home via Wandsworth and Clapham Commons. Fairly flat route, 28km, with a lot of park and riverside, traffic free. It ends at 1pm at the Park Life Cafe to take another break. A map of the route is here:

This series of Saturday morning rides is organised by Bruce Lynn and friends on behalf of Southwark Cyclists https://southwarkcyclists.org.uk . We are part of the London Cycling Campaign https://lcc.org.uk which trains and insures our ride leaders as well as campaigning for more, safer cycling in London. Like all good things we attract copy-cats and there's a group masquerading as us. I won't say more but I will say: Accept no Substitutes. Only the best is good enough.
