Looks like there is a problem with the system not sending the automated email to say there is a message received / waiting

This thread should probably be on the 'About this forum' board.

Anyway - I sent myself a PM and received a notification from admin@eastdulwichforum.co.uk.

Have the supposed recipients of the notifications checked their spam folders?

I have also had this happen recently, but I thought it was people just not reading their messages, or else not ticking the box asking to be notified of them by email.

Or else they have already sold the item in question (for example) and can't be bothered to read or respond to any other messages about it. Which is sort of understandable, but also quite rude (IMO).

If you go to your sent messages you can see if they have read your message or not. I also think it's rude to not even reply to a PM.

'Being annoyed or disappointed' about pms not been read or answered?......
Why?....if you get multiple pms, would you send out 10+ pms?...............

Yes

Or else, as some people do, post on your thread that you have had too many replies to respond individually, but the article is now sold, or whatever.

Recently I havenít been getting the usual email notifications that I have a PM despite my settings still set for this so wonder if there is a problem somehow?

I have sent a couple of private messages recently that have been read and I have had no response, just thought people couldnít be bothered to reply which in my opinion is very rude.

Have you checked your spam folder?

It happened to me too

Totally agree, if your item it sold, it would be nice put Sold next to the subject heading. I don't have a problem responding to 10 people, just copy and paste the same message. I'm sure if we had to write a review, everyone would respond..looo

I think it is right to respond to anyone who has sent a pm. In my case the original response from me shows as not being read by the recipient..Maybe they are on holiday ? and not receiving notification they have a pm. Who knows --still annoying!

It seems Ornella, bli and seemster are the people who are missing notification emails (ie they expected to receive one or more, but didn't). Have these people checked their email spam folders?

An easy way to test the notifications is to send a PM to yourself. If these aren't coming through, and emails are not going to spam I will raise with Admin.

They are not in my spam and have always worked fine in the past so this is a recent problem over the last 2 weeks roughly.
But this week I am getting notifications so it May have been resolved.

I have items for sale, and I ticked the box to get email notifications.

I didn't have any, so I didn't check my messages.

Now I find I have three messages re these items.

What's going on?

I have created a new thread about this on the "about this forum" board and will email the administrator.

I'll reply here as well. Whilst I can't solve the "people don't reply to PMs" / lack of courtesy problem there does seem to be an intermittent mail sending problem that affects some messages.

We have fixed it and currently it seems ok but we know there's a problem if we're informed by you. If you do notice a problem it would help if you could please email us at admin@eastdulwichforum.co.uk
