  1. Aria continues to be my go-to plumber, having completed several jobs over the years in a polite and incredibly efficient manner.
  2. Anyone want to make a few quid by letting out their home over the half term time or either side of it? Couple with baby looking to stay in the area 😊
  3. Hope you took a test and got the desired result!
  4. While much of this is correct and I agree, an ambulance would not respond on their own if a person is suspected of being aggressive. The police and ambulance service work together to take the person to a safe place where they will be assessed. An ambulance won?t just turn up and start medicating somebody. bobbly Wrote: ------------------------------------------------------- > Havnt had time to go I would say if you see > someone who is a threat to themselves or others > and is clearly mentally ill the best thing to do > is to call the ambulance who will administer > medication. 5. And yet Meghan herself is judged for asserting herself by making her own complaint! 6. Some people might need help to understand https://www.mind.org.uk/information-support/coronavirus/mask-anxiety-face-coverings-and-mental-health/ Do feel free to not use any shop where you don't feel comfortable
  7. Meghan, as a mixed race woman, has called out racism. When that happens there is a responsibility to listen and hear. But society doesn't want to hear. Meghan should be quiet about her experiences, be a good girl, not make things awkward. Women world over feel this and know the expectation to sit quietly. For a female person of colour this is even more so. This is regardless of social class but throw that into the mix and then we add a further dimension of silencing and side lining. White, non female people think they can legitimately challenge the existence of a daily occurrence that they have zero experience of. That is the world we live in. White males know best and rocking this boat isn't welcome. I saw this a few weeks ago, before the interview and thought it quite interesting and succinct: DulwichBorn&Bred I'm with you in feeling despondent about responding to this thread (or any other relevant discussions, online or otherwise) and I wondered whether to make the effort. It takes energy to keep trying to chip away at this stuff in a world that doesn't want to see, let alone change.
  8. Naughty girl Meghan. Sit down. Don't make a fuss. Know your place. (along with 41,000 complaints to Ofcom) Spartacus Wrote: ------------------------------------------------------- > There is a story on the news that Meghan had now > complained about Piers' comments to ITV ... > > Does this potentially mean that anyone who > disagrees with her comments on here will be > contacted by her lawyer ?
  9. Your response and inverted commas indicates that you really have a limited idea about what mental health issues look like, how they manifest, the range of symptoms and how debilitating they are. Not to mention those who have experienced trauma. You may think the number of people with mental health problems are low and that it's a case of tolerating a little bit of discomfort. Both of these assumptions are a long way from the reality and those people who do suffer from mental health problems are subjected to this kind of invalidation, dismissiveness, judgement and side-lining daily. I have no idea what is going on with the staff in Gails but I do know that if they are exempt from wearing masks for any reason then they are within the rules and folk can make their own mind up whether to shop there or not. Nigello Wrote: ------------------------------------------------------- > My point is that discomfort is felt by all, some > more than most, but very few people really > *cannot* wear a mask, and that includes those with > "phobias" etc. Accommodating someone's discomfort > is less important than stopping an easily > transmissible virus from getting around, and all > that entails. 10. Misogyny Racism Insidious, pernicious, thinly veiled, institutional and systemic. The message being when will women and people of colour learn to be pipe down and be quiet? They bring it on themselves. So it continues...?..and it saddens me that much of this thread stinks of it.
  11. Isn't the point that if staff in Gails are exempt then they don't have to wear a mask and Gails is perfectly within the rules to still employ them and have them serve customers? You may not like that but them's the rules.....so don't go in if your personal view is that this isn't ok. Nigello- I'm going to take the bait on this one......it is often forgotten that mental health issues make up a huge percentage of people who do not wear masks.
  12. Yes I completely agree siousxiesue, it is hard not to feel alarmed by other people being around us or passing us even when outdoors. We have all been bombarded to constant messages of threat for the last year. It is difficult to accommodate updated messages that have arrived with new knowledge about transmission. It will take even longer for us to feel comfortable again with being indoors with other people!
  13. It's everyone's choice whether to go outside or not but (and I have posted it before) I found this article reassuring. https://www.bbc.com/news/explainers-55680305 We are now conditioned into feeling anxious by the presence of other people and it will take a while for that to change
  14. How can such an overtly homophobic hate crime not be gross misconduct? There is no doubt as to what this man intended here and while in work uniform. Galop is a very helpful charity. Their website discusses what constitutes hate crime with regards to the LGBT+ population.
  15. The company should have on record who was collecting those bins on those streets at that time hopefully. I hope the police are also in contact with them. Sorry to hear this happened to you.
