  1. Good afternoon to those who remember me...just thought I would pop in and say hello and hope all is well with your stations Sad to say I left Southern back in November but still in the industry (in a way!!) Best wishes Barry KidKruger Wrote: ------------------------------------------------------- > It looks like Bazza has left the train company he > worked with. > > He was kind enough to PM me to advise. > > FYI.
  2. Hi, would love to be part of the day and will be bringing my management team along as well As you are aware I have donated prizes of some kind in the past, First Class Tickets, etc, this year I have something a little bit special I can arrange a tour of The Shard @ London Bridge (will be tallest building in Europe) and be one of the first members of the public to have a look at the site and the fantastic views across London. I am planning a tour with my team to go up so will extend this to the lucky winner and guest. The Shard is not due for completion until May 2012 so as you can appreciate a worthwhile prize. I have attached a picture taken from the 45th floor Or a return trip to Croydon on a Southern Service......not fussed either way:) Kind regards Barry
  3. The answer is yes...... Peckham is part of our plans to increase Ticket Machines Regards Barry
  4. IMPORTANT INFORMATION FOR PASSENGERS USING LONDON BRIDGE STATION THIS WEEKEND As part of the on-going Shard project, the bus station at London Bridge station will be demolished and rebuilt. The existing canopy roof over the bus station will be removed on each of the four weekends in March. The first weekend to be affected is this weekend, 5th and 6th March. The work will require a complete closure of the bus station meaning that there will be no vehicular access to the front of the station. During these weekend closures: ? Taxis will relocate outside of the station. If you need a taxi, you will need to make your way to the temporary rank near the London Dungeon attraction at Tooley Street. There will be Marshals in the vicinity who will help you to find the rank if you need assistance. ? Buses will not be able to serve the station while the work is taking place, so services 17, 43, 48, 141, 149, N21 and N343 will pick up and drop off passengers at locations near to the station. For details of where these services will operate from, please click on the link below: http://www.thameslinkprogramme.co.uk/app/webroot/files/cache/PG20567_London_Bridge_Canopy_A5.pdf ? The footbridge to Guy?s Hospital will also be closed so passengers will need to access the hospital via the Joiner Street tube exit. ? Passengers who require mobility assistance will be able to speak to any member of station staff, or to any of the marshals outside the station to arrange assistance. Please note that there will be no vehicular access to the front of the station, so please use Tooley Street to pick up and drop off those who require mobility assistance. Step free access to the station and platforms is available from Tooley Street via Joiner Street. During the closures easy to follow signage and extra bus station staff and customer information assistants will be on hand to provide help and information for you. Lastly, apologies for not responding to some of the postings, I have been extremely busy over the last two weeks, I will ensure that postings etc are answered by this Friday Many thanks Barry
  5. Hi Loz This makes sense now, any off peak tickets of this kind have a special restriction on them, this is so gate staff can check that passengers are not travelling during peak times, hence them being barred through the gates Sorry! 6. Hi LOROL trains will be stopping however the station itself will remian under Southeastern Barry Bic Basher Wrote: ------------------------------------------------------- > Hi Barry, > > I know Denmark Hill isn't under your remit, but do > you know if the station's being transferred to > LOROL or staying with Southeastern in 2012?
  7. Hi Dont worry about sending these through, however I do expect my staff to be more proactive! This has now been faulted Barry Ladygooner Wrote: ------------------------------------------------------- > Sorry to bother you Barry, but the light is out at > the bottom of Platform 2. 8. Hi, There have been few postings regarding the 0921 from ED to London Bridge, I now have some information from the Southern Performance team, I will try and keep this simple as possible Each train route/service has its own unique code, in this case the 0921 is(2E72) The information below relates to the service when the new time table was introduced on December 13th last year. Trains booked 34 ? 2 were cancelled due to driver and stock shortage. On average the train departs East Dulwich 7 late and the most common departure time is 3 late. On average the train arrives at LB 5 late and the most common arrival time is Right Time. 17 trains (55%) of the trains that run are Time to 5, of which 14 trains (45%) were Right Time. 11 (35%) have been over 10 late, much of which occurred between 16/12 and 18/01. The reasons for the delays have been various; however, many of the delays are because of an unexplained loss in running, which is causing knock-on delays to the service. Also the severe weather during December caused considerable problems. The ?2E? services are now subject to an investigation by the Right Time Railway Group for the area. They are studying the clash in timings in and around the Streatham area - particularly at Streatham South Junction. I will keep you informed of the outcomes and hopefully we can find a solution and get it rectified ASAP. In the meantime I will continue to monitor the 2E's through my route I can only apologise for the inconvenience this has caused but we are now looking for a solution Regards Barry
  9. Hi The new "Piazza" will be on the opposite side of the station and it will also create a 2nd entrance. The new retail units will formed from the bricked up arches, these are still in discussion as to how they will be refurbished The main bridge itself is indeed a real mess and I have been onto Network Rail regarding the graffiti, since reading your posting I have sent an email to another contact and hopefully we can get this sorted with the Queens Road refurb The ELL is scheduled to run through from May 2012, two of my small stations will come under LOROL's remit at the same time, those being Clapham High St and Wandsworth Road. Queens Road Peckham and Peckham Rye will remain in Southern's franchise. Unfortunately there are no current plans for escalators or lifts I am afraid Barry Shane Clarke Wrote: ------------------------------------------------------- > Barry - Your note that Queens Road Peckham is to > get a new piazza (where?), entrance (where?) and > retail units is all very interesting and > encouraging. 10. Hi Sorry for the inconvenience this has caused There are new posters/maps outside the station stating clearly where the bus replacements are situated, hopefully no more issues in the future Barry bloonoo Wrote: ------------------------------------------------------- > Hiya > Know this probably isn't your area and I always > seem to be moaning on this thread (sorry!!) but do > you know who I can complain to regarding the rail > replacement service that never turned up > yesterday? 11. Hi I am afraid this is correct, they constructing the new roof over the old, these crane movements are very delicate operations and have to have clear space underneath hence closing the concourse off at night (elf and safety as you put it) I keep promising that I will update the London Bridge situation as there will be a lot of disruption over the next 9 months. I will sit down over the next few days and post regarding this Glad you like the new shelter Barry Ladygooner Wrote: ------------------------------------------------------- > Barry - many thanks for the new shelter on > Platform 1 - very welcome today! > > I have a question about the closing off of > platforms 13-16 at night. 12. 13. Hi Yes there are plans to refurbish the old waiting room on platform 3 as well as the toilets. I am awaiting dates for works to commence Barry spanglysteve Wrote: ------------------------------------------------------- > Is there any chance of getting a waiting room on > Platform 3 of Peckham Rye similar to that between > platforms 1 and 2? 14. Hi I was discussing this issue whilst at London Bridge, please see response from my Station Manager Regards Barry The oyster reader the passenger is referring to is the one on the luggage gate platforms 9 & 10, we did have an issue where when TFL did a down load it would tweak the reader to accept entry only and not both exit and entry, it was noticed last summer and the reason behind the fault was not obvious and took a while to diagnose and then find a remedy, I can confirm once the fault was picked up a note was put over the reader advising passengers and gateline staff to only tap if entering. In November 2010 this was eventually rectified and has worked accepting both entry and exit since then. I think this passenger understandably may have add issues when first installed and now makes a decision to avoid tapping when leaving the station, but we can reassure the passenger that this has been rectified and she should no longer have issues using this reader clux Wrote: ------------------------------------------------------- > Thank you Barry > > One little thing that has now been niggling me for > a year - when i travel to London Bridge on the > train and then swap to the underground i have to > go through the large gate that a member of staff > has to open for me as i have a pram with me. > EVERYTIME i swipe my oyster card there it thinks > i'm going out not in and fines me. 15. Clux/Loz Hi, to get to the route of these issues and deal with it, I need to know what code flashes up on the gate line when you try to gain entry. Once I have the codes (ask the staff if unsure, they will see the number on the system) I can look into this for you. On a positive note, London Bridge (April onwards) we will see the brand new gates being installed, these are very state of the art so hopefully no more issues in relation to Oyster Barry
