  1. Defendant found guilty at the Old Bailey today, he is being sentenced on Tuesday. https://www.bbc.co.uk/news/uk-england-london-49370364 I hope that verdict gives some small measure of comfort to the family and friends of the victim of this shocking crime.
  2. I usually send my son (now 14) to a week or two of tennis and can recommend https://clubspark.lta.org.uk/SebastienBlanchonCoaching/Coaching/Camps Mine have welcomed the holiday lie-in but this way they get that rest but also a reason to get out of bed and some fresh air.
  3. Please report this. There is a spate of muggings and I am not at all sure that police are doing enough, the more reports the more pressure to do so.
  4. Found 29th Jan. Nationwide debit card on Grove Vale by Goose Green school. PM me with name on card if yours
  5. I believe all schools have a challenge to manage budgets nowadays. The donate an instrument and donate a book (new books through Rye books or good quality second hand) were initiatives of the Friends of Charter School designed to promote sustainability.
  6. Boy and card reunited. Thank you cgavassoni and thank you EDF
  7. Been meaning to go into Tart for ages and finally got the chance last week. Delicious lunch, generous portions, reasonably priced with good service and attractive, spotless decor. Will be back.
  8. It is a scam. He was doing the same on Northcross Rd a few weeks ago telling each business how all the others were giving him money when I'd just seen them refusing. I asked him what school it was for and he said it was for his brother at St. Dunstan's and I later saw him with older boy who was not school age. Frankly it's theft (Well obtaining property by deception but basically the same). Not the crime of the century but if I see him again I'll tell him I'm calling the police having seen a number of elderly ladies hand over cash to him.
  9. My son was one of the founding cohort and I have watched him flourish from a quiet child unwilling to put himself forward to a confident young man who puts his hand in the air to volunteer to be a mediator and mentor. The fact that the school is "not fully established" i.e fairly new is, in many ways, its great strength; small class sizes, dynamic teachers, a nurturing atmosphere amongst students and staff, a lack of bullying/intimidation, involved parents excited to be part of such a successful launch and, very soon, shiny brand new extensive facilities right on our doorstep. Alex Crossman is an excellent leader; he has an air of calm efficiency without being arrogant, is dynamic and approachable. He has the respect of students, staff and parents. The school was our only choice for our daughter (and first choice for the majority of her friends). we feel very priviledged indeed to have a place.
  10. I asked my son who is in Y8 at Charter if everyone has a smart phone. He says that plenty of students in his year have brick (i.e not internet enabled) phones but no one has no phone at all.
  11. Found various cards on Worlingham Road belonging to Zoe Tyrer PM me if you are her or know her
  12. Found Nat West student debit card in name Eliana (first name) on Grove Vale 9am 8th Sept PM to recover
  13. Tennis at North Dulwich tennis club (or Burgess Park which is very reasonable)
  14. My son is at New Charter. He has blossomed and neither he nor I could be happier. Like all schools you can only judge for yourself. Perhaps at one of the open days next term? I do know it is a very popular choice.
