I second that recommendation. Tim and his colleague completed some work for me last week. They were efficient and communication regarding dates and what was required was excellent (unlike another compmany recommended on the EDF who didn?t even bother to call me back).

Initially, they produced a report for me on a property I was trying to buy. They analysed the house and gave me all of the options for a loft conversion and side return, with estimated build costs, so I could make an informed decision before proceeding. Amazingly they completed all of this in 3 working days.

Not sure if this is relevant to the above, but a friend of mine recently used a company called Buildpath for some initial advice on a proposed side return, which I seem to remember cost her a few hundred pounds. They provided floor plans, a 3D model/renders, planning guidance and a project report. They can definitely help you out with the initial stages without you committing to thousands in fees.
