  1. Hi, I used Dunsins sureveyors a few years ago and was very happy with the service.
  2. We need a piece of guttering replaced. Short bit of pipe, first floor. Someone who self recommended fixed it last year but sadly not very well as it has popped out again. I would love to know if anyone has a golden recommendation .
  3. Happy ending, the rescue charity which rehomed Kiki has confirmed she Bast been reunited with her new family (who are buying a tracking device!). They were very shaken. Amazing work by Liam of Dawgs pet sitting who had managed to get her to a local vet before she escaped again, and all the amazing people who searched for her.
  4. Hoping for sightings and please do post here if there are any. And if anyone sees her, please do try to get hold of her. Battersea are in touch with the owner so they are the best people to call but we have people on a local dog owners group who might be able to jump in a car to get her and keep her until her owner can get to her.
  5. Very obviously has scarred skin, a rescue from abroad, medium size apparently
  6. Please circulate: a very poorly looking dog, who is called Kiki, a rescue from abroad, skin in terrible condition, looks very obviously poorly, is on the run in east Dulwich. She was found earlier on Dulwich Park, taken by a kind person on a local dog owners whatsapp group to a vet, owner located, but has slipped her collar when the kindly person was putting her back in his van after the vets visit. This has just happened. Lordship Lane and headed towards Lycott Grove. Please circulate and reply here if you find her? I can post on the WhatsApp group if anyone sees her. Please try to catch her if you see her. Just spoken to Battersea dogs home. They have had a call from the owner reporting her missing. Please call Battersea if you find her and try to keep her safe. Battersea and the owner are in touch.
  7. Hi all, I am looking for a really good landscaper/labourer for some garden work. I need someone (possibly a two person team) who has a really good grasp of landscaping basics, but I have a fairly clear idea of what I want and it?s not super fancy or enormous. Just a good eye for detail, heights of brick paving versus turf etc, and also happy to do a bit of light garden clearance, though nothing major? also there?s a problem with drainage re lawn in my garden so someone who is clued up about how best to lay turf with improved drainage etc. I have no side access so it will be quite labour intensive getting gravel etc through the house. I probably don?t need to describe all this, as I?m sure it?s just basic landscaping stuff! But just to be clear I need more than a gardener. Recommendations gratefully received. If you self recommend, I am hoping to get this done quite soon so if you don?t have availability for months, it won?t work this time, thank you!
  8. Hello all, I've put this up myself before but have run out of energy! can anyone recommend a local wallpaperer/decorator who has experience using Wallrock KV600 or similar - really thick and hard to handle thermal wallpaper?! Keen to get some up in my freezing room!
  9. Hello, I just wondered if anyone has used the big companies for damp.. Google suggests a mix bag, with some people saying it?s patchy service and a bit of a stitch up and some leaving glowing reviews! I?d sort of just like a good reputable firm to come and do the work. Has anyone used a good damp company recently for a bit of damp?!
  10. I too found Roger and his son to be fantastic; Roger was super nice, really helpful and reassuring. It was a bit grizzly, and they did the gizzly bit of catching a very determined rat, and then I got a drainage/rat proofing company to come and put clever one way valves in all the underground pipes which seems to have stopped ratty incursions. But Roger did the nasty bit at the start, with humour and reliability.
  11. Hello, this is one of those small but skilled jobs that I know aren't always that popular! I did have a handyman to originally do this but unfortunately it was just too much for him and he very badly cut down my loft hatch and the surrounding architrave, and managed to break the brand new loft ladder. He was nice, I just wish he had told me it was all too much for him. I therefore need a really good, efficient carpenter/handyman/builder who would be happy to sort this all out for me. The hinges were put on the wrong way to the loft hatch, the edge has been hacked at and I can't use the ladder. Does anyone have recommendations for someone who might be able to come and fix it all for me?! I think good carpentry skills are needed, as I'd love to get the poor damaged architrave/hatch etc sorted, as well as get the ladder properly installed and fixed. Not expecting to be besieged by enquiries for this one (!) but fingers crossed! Thank you all.
  12. I just wanted to highly recommend Critter Solutions. I had a determined, and large, rodent which had managed to burrow through, extraordinarily, from the neighbouring house into my kitchen, where it made itself comfortable beneath my kitchen units, occasionally trying to break through the plinth into the room. Without going into all the gruesome details, and there are some, Roger and his son were just amazing. Roger was kind, and offered practical advice and assistance. Unlike many of the big commercial companies, he did not immediately charge a standard set fee and didn't immediately just go for the poison option (explaining that it would make my kitchen unbearable over christmas, which I hadn't thought about, stupidly). Much as I love animals, this one could not stay in my house. And it was determined to do just that. So he instead laid traps and - again - without sharing the fairly gruesome details, that approach contained the problem until my builder could come and remove the units, and seal up the hole(s) with mesh and cement, before putting them all back again. It was a fairly queasy few weeks, a battle between me and the rat, and Roger's calm, experienced and practical approach made it bearable. He has decades of experience, and I can't recommend them highly enough. After about 8 hours of cleaning, I now feel I can use the drawers and cupboards again which had been particularly favoured by my house guest. What a lovely Christmas story this is; I didn't intend to share quite so many details! Though have withheld the worst. But, in short, if you find yourself reduced to a quivering wreck and all your sugar is being eaten by a distant relative of my own, lately departed, rodent, then Roger is your man.
  13. Just been let down by two different companies 😐. Anyone used anyone really good and reliable recently?! ☺️
  14. I don't know if this is useful but he just installed proper draught-proofing beading onto my single glazed sashes, having been recommended by a friend he did the same job for, and it's made such a difference and I'm very pleased! I was considering double glazed replacements, but couldn't quite stretch to that, and he helpfully made the point that a huge percentage of energy and heat lost through windows is because of gaps and draughts, and it really all feels much snugger now. I was really impressed. I'm sure his window replacements would be great too. he replaced the old springs in my sashes, too, and now they go up and down really beautifully.
