  1. We're dealing with this too atm but it'll be specific to your house. Plumber says ours is probably a toilet seal that's gone (apparently the noise and vibrations can get through to other appliances/taps). Or you may have air in the system - not hard to fix if you can turn off the water to your house and look up a guide online
  2. I'm going to go with some brown bags and hope for the best. Thanks for messages
  3. Hello, We're moving in 10 days or so, and so obviously didn't want to renew our garden waste subscription for this address. I did the garden before our last subscription ran out, but with all the rain/sun it's growing really fast and will probably need a chop again. Does anyone know if there is a way to get this collected beyond borrowing a neighbour's bin? (Incidentally if anybody on Landcroft Road is up for this, let me know!) I read that the brown bags are tied to one address which seems a shame as we're only moving five mins away. But wonder if that's actually how it works in practice?
  4. Nowt for at least a week now, including letters (Landcroft Rd). Maybe we're just unpopular but not even seen anyone working
  5. Hello, I just bought a Freesat box to use with a satellite dish mounted outside my window (rented ground floor flat): no signal! I doubt it's the box so I'm assuming the dish/cabling needs attention, or replacing. Does anyone have a recommendation for an individual or firm who could take a look? Crucially, this is a rental house so I'm not keen to spend a huge amount! Thanks, Dan
  6. EDIT: Did some googling, seems this has been an issue for decades. Ignore me! 😅 New to ED so am possibly behind the curve on this ? but am already a bit bored of playing chicken with cars at the crossing of East Dulwich Grove with Lordship Lane. Seems to me it's as major a crossing as those which meet at the roundabout (which has plenty of furniture to help pedestrians cross safely) and this doesn't have any way of helping people cross. Has there not been any consideration of a crossing at this point?
  7. Hello! I recently moved to ED (Landcroft Rd) and have noticed that, despite being so close to the Crystal Palace transmitter, I've been unable to get good TV reception through our outdoor aerial or a since-purchased-and-fobbed-off indoor one (this ? one of those black flat things https://www.geargeek.co.uk/hd-indoor-antenna-aerial-50-mile-amplified/). I was wondering if being so close is actually an issue and whether there's a tried-and-tested aerial that somebody nearby could recommend for indoors? Thanks!
  8. Hello! Brand new in East Dulwich, and that means we have loads of cardboard to dispose of from various deliveries (weird moving in without going to the shops much!) and from moving. I don't have a car and bulky waste pickup is booked for weeks, so I tried to carry it down to East Dulwich Grove local recycling point (listed on Southwark's website), which a guy cleaning around the estates there helpfully informed me doesn't exist!! I then tried to book a permit for the recycling centre, but I was told on the phone that there's no walk-ins at the moment due to Covid-19. Does anybody know where I can take it? There's some mocking signs on bus stops on Lordship Lane telling me there's lots of new local recycling points but my experience so far is that they are disappearing! Thanks, and if there's any tips (Whatsapp groups, other resources) for a new resident on Landcroft Rd I'd really appreciate hearing about it!
