  1. I am not sure but I think that it isa proposal for building on the green space on the existing estate. I think that it isn't the actual Brenchley gardens.
  2. Many thanks. Does anyone have any experience of the vet on Lordship Lane, near the junction with the South Circular? Parking looks easier. Also is the RSPCA vet open to anyone or do you need proof of low income / benefits? We used to sue Celia Hammond as out cats are nervous rescues and they come from there, but they now only take people with proof of benefits.
  3. Any recommendations for vets in the area. We need to register our two currently healthy cats and get their inoculations updated. Many thanks
  4. Does anyone have a recommendation for a reliable electrician who will check and sign off some new electrical work on a small extension. This is potentially a small job and is required for a submission to building control. Many thanks
  5. Many thanks. I am also looking at a private practice in central London, which offers free one off consultations on specific issues. I think that some local dentists do accept NHS patients but then focus on getting people to pay for non-NHS services. This makes it difficult to trust what you are being advised to do, as it may be financial rather than professional! Just noting that it is actually me who is looking and not my children.
  6. Thank you, very helpful. I am also looking at a practice in central London which offers free initial consultations for specific treatments.
  7. The possible course for further action is that it has breached the Equalities Act by failing to consider appropriately the needs of those who are defined as having 'protected characteristics" under the act. The act isn't flawless but does include age (any age, not just the elderly) and those with disabilities who could be thought to be disproportionally affected because some people in those groups will have limited mobility and won't be able to walk for long distances, cycle and have difficulty using public transport. There are many other protected characteristics including gender and race, but it is harder to see how they could apply. Southwark has now agreed to exempt Blue Badge holders (very strict mobility criteria - can't walk more then 250 yards on most days), but only those who live in Southwark. The congestion charge is not applied to any Blue Badge holder, no matter where they live. There is no time like an election year to get the interest of your local councillor. There will also be an election within the Labour Party to decide who succeeds Harriet Harman at some point...
  8. Looking for a good dentist, preferably NHS, who is focussed on saving teeth as opposed to removal. Happy to have recommendations for dentists who work privately as well.
  9. I am looking for recommendations for dentists in Dulwich who will focus on saving teeth. The dentists in my current practice change frequently and there seems to be an increasing focus on extracting teeth and recommending expensive treatments (e.g. implant ?2k). Two people in my family have had extractions recommended when another dentist has been able to save the tooth. The problem is that you never know who you are going to see in the practice. Any recommendations welcome.
