  1. My baby has had this. It was diagnosed as bronchiolitis at King?s. Staff said the easing of lockdown has allowed lots of infectious illness to surface that was suppressed until now, incl some things (like bronchiolitis) that usually appear in late autumn. The cough is dreadful & our baby was pretty ill with it. It also spread to four adult family members.
  2. Thanks for the responses & private messages.
  3. My partner & I have a spring piglet due and it will have to be a consultant-led hospital birth. I was hoping to get some information that would help us decide where to go. King?s is more convenient for travelling, obviously, but logistics aside, does anyone have anything to offer that might help us make this decision? Either from a ?patient? or from people who work in either. There?s a possibility the baby may be sick & in need of immediate surgery, but we don?t know for certain yet. Thanks in advance!
  4. A big thank you once again to Steve for getting my dishwasher up & running properly again!
  5. Actually, the evidence from countries providing comprehensive sex ed is that young people tend to go on to become sexually active later, rather than earlier. The difference is primarily that they go about it in a more responsible, knowledgeable way and are less likely to contract STDs or have unplanned pregnancies. Knowledge is key to making good, informed choices, after all. As for the portrayal of sex as frivolous fun, well, the reality is that it *is* for very many people. It is perfectly possible to tell young people that for some people sex is an almost sacred act expressing two people's deep love & commitment while for others it's simply fun, like a fairground ride or a super-cheesy pizza. And that it can mean very different things to the same person at different times. That seems the most truthful explanation to me. I've brought up 4 kids and that's been my approach and whether by luck or by judgment, it's served us all well.
  6. Just a heads-up. My teenaged son has just been mugged while sitting on the hill on his own. 2 attackers, all much bigger than him so about 6ft, hoods up, balaclavas on. Possibly an idea to warn all teens who hang out there to avoid it, or at least not go there alone. (Yes, I did warn my son previously...)
  7. I had this problems (with lego-fanatic triplets) and tried various things. What worked best was a combination of a huge tool box with compartments for special pieces, something like a Trofast Ikea storage unit with shallow drawers for general pieces and a few floating shelves on bedroom walls where built/worshipped items could be placed.
  8. After reading a recommendation for HomeCert electricians a few weeks ago on the East Dulwich Forum, I called them out when water damage messed up my electrics. Someone came around incredibly quickly and couldn't have been more efficient and helpful. Many thanks!
  9. I'm picturing The Gay Team on the pitch with all their fans on the sidelines doing some kind of cheerleading routine involving rainbow pompoms.
  10. To be honest, having had 'multiples' whilst living in a small space, I'd be inclined to ask the parents what would be most useful. There are certain things you don't need with one baby that are very useful when you have two or more at once, eg screw-on highchairs, bath seats. I'd second the suggestion of pre-cooked meals for the parents but perhaps check they have a freezer first.
  11. Hello there, maybe try this lot: http://signalfamilysupport.org/ I'm local and am happy to chat, too.
  12. It's 1-4pm on the grass by the Norwood Lodge entrance on Norwood Road. You might want to call the contact first, though, because it looks as though this is for DaWN members. Try Tina on 07803 501363. They're also collecting to replenish our funds after all our campaigning.
  13. There's a Labour Party one in Brockwell Park on Saturday.
  14. It would be a good idea to post a few photos. There are lots of ginger cats! I'll keep an eye out.
