  1. We have a large wooden hamster cage (115cm x 55cm x 57cm) available to anyone who can collect it. We are in East Dulwich. https://www.robertdyas.co.uk/pawhut-small-wooden-hamster-mouse-or-rat-cage-play-house It's descibed by the sellers as 'small' but as far as I am concerned it's enormous! It cost about £85 two years ago. Hamser died and not being replaced. Decent condition (some signs of gnawing!). Contact Matt Gale on 07944 673185 to ask questions or to arrange a time of collection.
  2. The Peckham Ryders are a local band playing gigs around south London. We play mostly country and country rock covers (Eagles, Luke Combs, Taylor Swift, Dixie Chicks, etc) and are currently looking for a guitarist to play lead or possibly rhythm guitar. Our line-up includes two singers, drums, bass, keyboards and acoustic guitar and we are looking for an additional guitarist. We meet once a fortnight to rehearse, and aim to do one or two gigs a month - but don't expect to earn much money doing it! We have our own rehearsal space in East Dulwich. If you are interested it would be great to hear from you. Please contact Matt Gale on 07944 673185 or by PM me on the forum. Many thanks.
  3. Hi all, We are looking for a Bass Guitarist to complete the line-up of The Peckham Ryders - one of East Dulwich and Nunhead's leading country/rock covers bands. (Eagles, Fleetwood Mac, Taylor Swift, Dixie Chicks, etc). Can be male or female of any age! It's just for fun - we're not looking to make money at this, but we rehearse regularly and have already played several gigs since we formed earlier this year. If you are interested, please reply, or call me (Matt) on 07944 673185. Thanks for reading!
  4. Hi all, my daughter has her grade 3 flute exam on 27th June at 2.30pm, and unfortunately two different accompanists we have lined up have fallen through. We're looking to find an experienced accompanist who can do probably one rehearsal a few days before, and then the exam on the day. (Exam is at Blackheath but I can pick you up if you live in the East Dulaich area). Is anyone able to do this, or can anyone put me in touch with someone? We'll obviously pay your normal rate. Please reply to this thread, or phone Matt on 07944 673185. Many thanks Matt Gale
  5. Hi all, I'm looking for a Bass Guitarist, a Drummer and a female Singer to complete the line-up of a band we are forming in the East Dulwich area. We are looking to have a country/rock slant (e.g. Taylor Swift/Tim McGraw/Eagles/Fleetwood Mac, etc) - initially doing covers, but possibly with a view to introducing some original songs. I'm a guitarist, and we have a (male) singer, a keyboardist and a guitarist in our line-up so far. We're not necessarily looking for professional-standard musicians - keen amateurs who want to have fun playing good songs will be fine. No age requirements - you can be old or young, male or female. Hoping to play a few local gigs eventually. We have a rehearsal space we can use (in ED). If you are at all interested, please reply, or call me on 07944 673185. Thanks for reading!

  7. Hi y'all, Is there anyone interested in starting up a band with me? Probably with a country/pop/rock slant (e.g. Taylor Swift/Luke Combs/Tim McGraw, etc) - initially doing covers, but possibly with a view to introducing some original songs. I'm a guitarist, and I'm hoping to find both female and male singers, plus all the usual instruments! I'm not necessarily looking for professional standard musicians - keen amateurs who want to have fun playing good songs will be fine. No age requirements - you can be old or young, male or female. Hoping we can aim to play a few local gigs eventually. I do have a rehearsal space we can use (in ED). If you are at all interested, please reply, or call me on 07944 673185. Thanks for reading!
  8. Hi EDF. I am a guitar teacher based in East Dulwich. I have 15 years experience teaching children and adults at all levels. I particularly enjoy teaching beginners. I am available throughout the week - daytimes and early evenings. I can teach online (Zoom, Facetime, etc) or in person, at your place or mine. I teach acoustic, electric and bass guitar, in rock, pop, blues and folk styles. Please message me through the forum, or call me on 07944 673185. I also have a website, if you would like to take a look: www.matt-gale.co.uk
  9. I saw a large black bird on Peckham Rye Lake today - looked a bit like a black heron. Has anyone else seen it, and do you know whether it could be a cormorant? Didn't have my phone with me, but if I see it again I'll try to get a photo.
  10. Great Park Peckham Rye, if it was a 9 hole crazy Golf Course Southwark could ask the local schools each to design and construct s bit of the course as a school project, would be a great way to get local kids involved. Golf is a good game to get all ages/families/friends together, don't think they should be charging too much eg adults ?3 kids go free. Mine would prefer golf to bowling I am sure.
  11. Hi Does anyone out there have the ability to transfer audio recordings made in the 1980s on Betamax tape using the Sony PCM-F1 system onto another format for me? Preferably to CD or DAT. I guess I'm looking for a local recording studio that might still have this legacy equipment, or maybe an audio enthusiast who had this setup in the 1980s when it was popular amongst audio professionals, and has hung onto it for old times' sake! I have 3 Betamax tapes with about 2 hours worth of music on that I need to access. I live in East Dulwich, and can bring the tapes to you. If you can do it, I'm willing to pay a reasonable rate. Please reply to this thread, or give me a call on 0208 693 9768. Many thanks Matt Gale
  12. Hi, my name?s Matt Gale and I?m a composer based in East Dulwich. I?m looking for a local viola player and a local cellist to help me with the recording of a piece I have written. I?m doing the recording at home, and I?m about half-way there now! It probably involves a couple of mornings? work. I?ll send you scores in advance, and a CD so you can get an idea of what the music is like. I can?t pay much, although if it ever makes any money I?ll make sure you get a fair share! If you are interested or have any questions, please send me a private message, or phone me on 020 8693 9768. Many thanks Matt
  13. Hi My name is Matt Gale and I am a guitar teacher based in East Dulwich (123 Underhill Road, SE22 0QS). If you are looking for guitar lessons, I currently have slots available on Thursday evenings at my home. I specialise in working with beginners, and I can teach rock, pop, blues and folk styles (but not classical), for electric and acoustic guitar. I also teach bass guitar. I have been teaching for more than 5 years in East Dulwich, both children and adults, but obviously the Thursday evening slots are more likely to appeal to adults. My lessons are individually prepared and tailored to your requirements, and I have built up a lot of resources over the time I've been teaching - chord sheets, song charts, tab sheets, sheet music (if you want to read music). I charge ?20 per hour, and would be happy to hear from you to discuss whether I can help you. You can call me on 020 8693 9768 or 07944 673185 or reply to this message. My website is here: http://www.matt-gale.co.uk/ Regards Matt Gale Guitar tuition
