  3. That would certainly fit Alleyn's record of saying one thing & then doing another. Today I believe is the last day to make a comment. Southwark Planning Register ref: 19/AP/5616 at least according to the important docs section on their dreadful planning website! It would be nice to think there was an extension till 12th Feb Also am I alone in thinking there ought to be a single clear summary of these proposals - who is going to download 75 different planning docs??
  4. Everyone should look at the brilliant Dulwich Clean Air posting - it says and shows the problem/s caused by Alleyn's and the congestion and environmental problems which have plagued the area, and undermined its quality of life for years. There have been major building and expansion works going on at the school for something like 10 years now and surely it must be time to call a halt and fully assess the environmental cost of this business to the local community.

  6. gosh we do have a severe case of outriders for Alleyn's don't we... the point is not about the provision of sports facilities - they already exist - the point is about having 15 metre floodlights creating a block of high intensity artificial light in the middle of a residential conservation area... so over to our good councillors who must balance the many needs of the community......
  7. this is a real Lib Dem flight of fancy - child safety issues exist outside the school& Alleyn's cannot/should not insulate itself from its community the gates have absolutely nothing to do with protecting those home around the school - indeed it has been those householders which have raised the alarms and protected the school when it was being vandalised/ burgled if you want to know what floodlights do - go to Dulwich Hamlet of an evening match or practice - go to the all weather hockey pitch near The Oval/ New Camberwell Road 15 metre floodlights are serious structures
  8. THE WHOLE POINT ABOUT THIS PLANNING APPLICATION IS THAT IT IS NEW & ADDITIONAL LIGHT & THE FLOODLIGHTS WILL BE A SERIOUS EYESORE IN A RESIDENTIAL & CONSERVATION AREA !! so many of these postings seem to be from people who think the school can do what it wants when really it is just an educational business that has little or no relationship with its community, protects itself behind iron bars with security guards and cctv & is already flooded with needless light like a goods yard There is still time to object, today's the last day for formal submissions - e-mail is fine - but there is still time to raise it with your councillors....
  9. Still just time to object - 12th is closing date for formal objections - but you can still lobby your councillors ! Do it!!
  10. There is still - only just - time to object to the Alleyn's School plan to erect giant 15 metre floodlights around its hockey pitch off Townley Road. all objections should be in by tomorrow (12th) but that doesn't mean you can't lobby your councillors - in my judgement this will have a horrendous impact on the residential character of the area - lighting it up like a good yard for details see link - the planning app is 11/AP/0495 http://planningonline.southwarksites.com/planningonline2/AcolNetCGI.exe?ACTION=UNWRAP&RIPNAME=Root.PgeResultDetail&TheSystemkey=9539186
  11. can't believe this is anything like a serious suggestion .... why are we giving it the time of day?? JUST SAY NO!
  12. This is an appalling idea - who would want to live their weekends beside a continuous market????
  13. keep your wits about you, make a noise & use the local police - it's all our neighbourhood....
  14. to my knowledge there have been at least two incidents of muggings in the Woodwarde/ Dovercourt/ Court Lane area in recent days people need to stay safe and be alert out there...
