I used to talk to this man several times a year over the years, whenever he was out front with his bird. I used to take those green London parakeet thingies to him if I found them injured (although they always died within a day or so, he would bury them in his garden). The property was sold to a developer I learnt from the gentleman. I think it has been split into two (maybe three) flats. He delayed the takeover of the property with the help of Southwark I believe, waiting until a suitable property up near Milton Keynes became available (can’t quite remember the name of the town near MK, it may have been the one where the code breaky stuff happened). All things come and go so it was a shame the man left, otherwise I think he was very happy living here, just had limited accommodation options locally and perhaps needed to be nearer his daughter as he progresses through the curve. And it would be interesting if anybody is still in touch with him!

Whereabouts Charlie?!

Same here, since last April, near Great Exhibition pub. Particularly bad last autumn and the last two weeks. I would have jumped already but not sure which network will give me a better signal - the coverage maps for all providers seem to show weak signal here. I’m loathe to switch and have same issue/diff provider. Vodaphone have been fine on phone and easy to contact in my opinion, but they seem to read from a script trying the same old fixes which do not work. I think they can see coverage is weak but they’ll never concede that they’re oversubscribed / do not provide a good signal. I’ve also noticed a predictable ’blip’ in voice calls when walking down LL, near parade of shops with Johnnie’s, Baratts, Jade, etc. If we could mobilise collectively we would maybe have some leverage / recognition.

Vanishing view from Nunhead Cemetery ?
KidKruger replied to KidKruger's topic in General ED Issues / Gossip
The cranes are still there so I’d guess it’s still going upwards! Thanks for info. -
At the top of Nunhead cemetery there is a lookout point from which you can look through the maintained gap in the trees across London to Saint Pauls cathedral. I noticed recently that in the foreground there is a “rogue“ building gradually being constructed and increasing in height, floor by floor. If a few more floors are added the view of Saint Pauls will be deleted, or at least significantly reduced. Does anybody know anything about it, I have no way of knowing where the building is or how far from Nunhead? I’m not trying to start a campaign or anything (I wouldn’t know which building to address) but I wondered whether it had ever been a consideration to maintain the view, I imagine not as it may not have been obvious to developers or the council.

Family of 4 looking for short term let from mid-March
KidKruger replied to dustykelly's topic in Property
Oops sorry, location East Dulwich, 2min walk to Lordship Lane. -
Was closed as of week before Xmas.
-
Snapped this photo of a “East Dulwich” sign when on a bus approaching the roundabout at the end of Lordship Lane. I would have expected such a sign to be on the opposite side of the road for people entering Lordship Lane from the roundabout. So is this sign saying we are entering East Dulwich at that point, or is it saying we have just been there 🤣🤣😳🤔 Or is it just a legacy of old signage.

Would make a great nail bar or fried chicken emporium. Or both.

Sounds wholly pointless!

Perhaps attach a message on the cart and try to get a dialogue going. Or, if you know (seems you do) the person, speak with them on the market Saturday. You might be able to get your concerns across and come to an agreement.

Ex offenders selling on the door steps - SE22
KidKruger replied to Caesi01's topic in General ED Issues / Gossip
Thanks Pugwash, I have emailed the police. I’m sorry to hear that this person also was intimidating other people in the area. I feel quite strongly that we should not have to suffer threatening behaviour, just for answering our own front door!
