  1. You can donate to the Kings College Hospital milk bank - you have to have a blood test which is annoying, but it is v much needed and they will send a courier to pick it up. 020 3299 9303
  2. Tk maxx in new cross usually have popatu tutus.
  3. A few ideas of things people suggested to us that we tried. The first is the one that worked best. Warm milk (not too warm, obvs) but warmer than body temp First feed of the day, when he/she is *most* hungry Let the baby play with the bottle, empty, to get used to it Try a sippy cup instead - the kind with the valve that's v slow flow Try other bottles - ours liked the nuk ones best Good luck!
  4. Is he swaddled? My six month old still needs to be wrapped up (loosely, with one arm out) or he wakes up after 45mins like clockwork! Agree that you might want to limit morning nap - my first could sleep 9-11 and 1-3 reliably but the second struggles with second nap if first is that long so we wake him. Allows us to get out of the house, too.
  5. We used Wayne and Jayne (I'm serious) at Envy work surfaces - they're based somewhere in Yorkshire but come to London most weeks. They were really nice, and had the quickest turnaround of anyone we spoke to even though they were just ?40 shy of being the cheapest quote. Poor Wayne left home at 3am to get to London to fit out worktop at 7.30! www.envyworksurfaces.co.uk
  6. Matt just fitted my car stereo and I can enthusiastically recommend him: capable, charming and reasonably priced. Also out what was wrong with my windscreen wipers (which had flummoxed me for months) in about two minutes. A very good handyman.
  7. The rule that if you've worked part of a day, it counts as a full day, is there to protect employed mums - so that the employer can't mess you around with bits and pieces of part days you feel obliged to do. When you are your own employer, you don't need protecting from yourself (usually!) so you should be fine mixing and matching part days f that's what you want to do.
  8. Wonderful - thank you all so much! I had no idea there was a sling library - I will go next week. Hooray for edf.
  9. Hello. I have a two-year old and a two month old and have been trying to avoid getting a double buggy (no space) by carrying the little one in a baby bjorn carrier. Problem: he's a huge baby (16lb already at just two months) and it's doing my back in. What are the best carriers for a large baby? I know some people use slings etc for a year or more so they must be able to take the weight. Are the "active" baby bjorn carriers better? Any advice much appreciated.
  10. Andrew and josh of Lifestyle building improvements are literally just finishing our side return up in Camberwell. You couldn't find a nicer bunch of guys and they were very reasonably priced (a couple of people recommended on the forum quoted nearly twice as much!) [email protected]
  11. We have had a terrible experience with Daniel today and would recommend extreme caution in following ay of these recommendations. They have not repaired any of the problems they agreed to repair. Having visited earlier in the week to establish what parts were needed they then turned up this morning only to leave ten minutes later to "get parts". They didn't return for well over two hours only, again, to disappear after ten minutes "to get parts". Another two hours passed and they returned, but their "repair" to our leaking toilets didn't solve the problem. So we felt it simply wasn't safe to let them tackle the other problems in the house. This has been one of my worst ever experiences with a tradesman. Polly
  12. I'd like to add my recommendation for Shaun. Excellent work, lovely guy, prompt, considerate and reasonably priced. What more could you want in an electrician?
