  1. Hi midivydale, also coming out of Edf retirement to post. Def suggest regular weighing and maybe regular pre booked appts with doc? Re slings, I tried an ergo omni with my 3rd child and it is very upright so might be worth trying one of those. Huge sympathies. Accept all offers of help and get sleep when possible. Can you hire in help eg during the day whilst 6 Is at school so you can sleep while they clean cook or hold baby?
  2. Phil and teds are good EXCEPT for the awkward period when your baby outgrows the newborn/bassinet setting and isn't big enough for the 6month plus setting. and if you need your 18mo to nap in the pram id also caution against it as most models won't recline. for this reason i would say get a duet or i would also look at Icandy. the candy orange has a built in buggy board too which id be keen to have a look at had it been available when i had mine! also i love the baby jogger city select. my main bit of advice though is to buy second hand then if you find it doesn't suit you or your needs change you can sell it on.
  3. We have bunks for our 3amd 5 yo, it's fine. I do worry about accidents but we've been ok so far, touch wood! Yes changing sheets is a pain. We keep a bottle of water in the corner between the mattress and the frame.
  4. a work friend was advised to get a blackboard and encourage his son to draw with suitable sized chalk. he is a graphic designer so was able to animate the drawings as an added incentive! so maybe something art based could help?
  5. so... whats the best way of getting a family of 5 (3 car seats) plus 5 suitcases to the airport? would a minivan work? we usually use mason and green but i think they only have cars.
  6. no one knows what will happen, so i would go for residency - i have. we are now moving but at least I'm sorted should i want to return (I'm not an eu national but a commonwealth one)
  7. for a small flat i can recommend a baby zen yoyo. if you want something a little bigger then the bugaboo bee it good and easy to pick up second hand. i think you are best to buy a minimal amount of stuff and save the money up while you are working so you can buy things as you need them. you can rent a sling so you are sure you have the right one before you buy. i disagree on the nappy bin though - i reckon get a small meta, bin which you line with a basic liner, cheaper and easier to clean!
  8. hi all, thanks very much for all the offers, i think william is moving to his new home this afternoon.
  9. Hi, This will eventually go into classifieds but I wanted to ask on the family room. We are emigrating and we cannot take our fish. We have a really nice bio-orb round fish tank with a fish in it called William The Fish. We have tried selling him, we have tried giving him away to friends but everyone we know already has pets or doesn't want pets. I am hoping there is a family on here who would like a nice fish in a nice tank, everything included even some fish food to get you started. Please PM me! we need to get him rehomed in the next 10 days. Thanks
  10. Hi Rose, there is a previous thread on this i will try and find it for you. at that age an iPad and some kids headphones are a lifesaver. a small pillow is worth it so you can get her comfy. we have found that a selection of their books and toys (nothing with small parts to lose) is good - we tried new toys that they unwrapped but they weren't that interested, i also took their special nighttime toy. dress her in comfy clothes which double as pjs i.e. comfy to sleep in take a bottle with a straw, helps clear the ears. we use kids camelback ones. take a change of top for you in case she has an upset tummy
  11. Hi, we've found it quite easy to cook at home with our 5yo. He has his own child friendly knives, measuring cups etc and he quite enjoys it. of course you might be already doing this in which case ignore me!
  12. have you done a search? thats a good start as there are lots of threads on this. you might find it difficult finding somewhere for 1 day, at mine the minimum is 3.
  13. baby joggers are great but i would also consider the baby zen yoyo. alternatively a second hand bugaboo bee wouldn't set you back too much.
