  1. Just a warning about driving - upper Richmond road is a total nightmare at the moment because of Hammersmith Bridge being closed. I would really consider going on the tube to Kew Gardens.

I pay for my Sainsbury?s shopping with it every week and it?s usually around ?100.
  3. I had Pete Bennison come out during that cold snap when loads of boilers broke. It was amazing how quick they came and the guy told me all the houses they were fixing. He would be who I would call in your situation. British Gas are actually a joke for being allowed to advertise the way they do given how long in reality you have to wait.
  4. I really want to do this as well, my work used to run a scheme for tower hamlets kids where John Lewis has a gift list. Does anyone know of anything like this you can do rather than having to take them somewhere? Or else something that has a super local to Se22 drop off point? Its just a pain dragging the kids along but I know I?m being a bit lazy. I was wondering today if the church at Barry Road May need presents?
  5. I take the bus to Denmark hill or forest hill each day. Today I asked a child in school uniform at a bus stop if he knew whether buses were running (figured he would have more up to date knowledge given the number of school kids). He told me that buses are running each morning until 8am then the road closes. At 530 when coming down from Denmark hill last night buses were being diverted along Barry and there was a lot of built up traffic - quicker to walk.
  6. Thanks for putting on here - we have it as well
  7. We have updated our entire house. So new electrics, heating, flooring, plastering, decorating. We also did the kitchen side return and back extension and also a loft conversion and re jigged the layout on floor one a little to make a larger bathroom. Sounds like we were in a similar position to you (5 years ago). We decided to concentrate on the ground floor first (upstairs was liveable just a time warp from 40 years ago). First up we planned what we wanted to do with the kitchen. Then we got builders quotes, decided on a builder and asked them for how to get drawings etc they pointed us towards someone who would do plans and structural drawings. We filed for planning. While waiting on this we got the electrics done throughout the house and decorated the lounge (first off got new timber sash window in the lounge and had some damp in lounge fixed). I can?t actually remember how/when the heating replacement fitted in. Then the builders started on the kitchen when planning came through. Took ages but builder gave us kitchen fitters names, floor layer person, decorators etc. It all seemed to work ok as they all knew each other. We also had a downstairs toilet fitted as part of the build. Then we had a nice downstairs. We did all the bits and bobs on floor one - used the same builder and his contacts for changing the bathroom layout upstairs and fitting new bathroom. Had NO bathroom for about 3 weeks! But it was ok we had a downstairs toilet. Once we had 3 nice bedrooms and a nice bathroom we took a break for about a year. Then we got one of those companies that specialise in loft conversions and they did it, no planning. They took ages but did a really good job. We used that decorator to decorate the hall as an extra job. You can do it all yourself. It?s like having an extra job. I don?t know how people do it with young kids. Good luck, you?ll never want to do it again but it?s kind of fun!
  8. El presidenti I would disagree that people with kids don?t need these spaces. There are only 2 (yes 2 and I have confirmed this with store management) trolleys that 2 babies and toddlers can sit in at this particular store (there are loads of double baby trolleys). The trolley attendants are well aware of this and therefore do their best to ensure these 2 trolleys go back into the trolley park next to the parent and child places. When you have 2 one year old children do you really think it?s acceptable to leave the kids in the car parked up at the other end of the car park while you go get one of these trolleys? Or do you think 2 1 year olds should walk across a car park with me to get this trolley? Also what about actually opening the doors on both sides of car to get them out the rear facing car seats? Please do answer as I am genuinely interested to hear your opinion?
  9. Another person with 1 year old twins who regularly uses Sainsbury?s car park. The spaces also happen to be near the trolleys which are suitable for kids. I now make a point of questioning people who park there with no kids and one woman said to me she was with her ?child?. The person with her was at least 18! Anyway if you tell the shop staff they will read out the number plate in store and tell the person to move their car. I?m sure once someone is called out one time they won?t do it again.
  10. Se22cat - you can?t give blood if you had received a blood donation. Just incase you are in that position.

  12. Thanks for the aMawer. Hopefully at some point it gets sorted
  13. Hi James Is the pavement replacement work on LL finished? The worst part of the street - outside the shoe shop, jade bakery etc - has not been done. It?s awful walking down that part on a rainy day. Are there plans for this to be sorted as I can?t understand why it would have been missed. Thanks Laura
  14. Totally agree on walking, pre children I walked to D Hill every weekday for years, from south of the main LL shops. 25 mins. Now i have exactly 20 minutes from childcare arriving to getting the train and the bus has been fine until now! Hopefully next week it?s back to normal.
  15. Personally I?d say the top is the end which is further north? Goose green is at the north end of LL. What reason would you put for it being ?bottom??
