  1. This seems to be a complete non-story. We asked several of the park staff today - nobody had heard of any recent vandalism. The American Garden looks pretty much unchanged. So much for reliable journalism. Memo to self: never repeat a newspaper story before you've checked it.
  2. Agreed - the ratboxes are not the main problem. This is the woman who led the replanting, quoted by Southwark News: “Predicting it will take three years to regrow the garden, Nancy said: “I am sick about what’s happened in the American Garden.” Nancy believes the plants were worth between £10,000 and £15,000 but even more concerning is whether the garden will flourish come summer. She said: “Will they survive? I don’t know, only time will tell…. and even if some of them do, it will take another three years for them to gain the growth they had.”
  3. Very sad. https://southwarknews.co.uk/area/peckham/peckham-vandals-destroy-american-garden-and-scrawl-foul-graffiti-on-parks-rat-bait-boxes/
  4. A Royal Mail parcel delivery man told me that on our round (Marmora, Therapia etc) one postman is on long-term sick leave and hasn’t been replaced, the other one has been put on nights so can’t deliver letters either. Complained to Royal Mail, copy to Harriet Harman. Tomorrow I’ll deliver a letter to the sorting office manager at Highshore Road. Will this ever get better again? Maybe they should privatise Royal Mail to make it more efficient. Ha ha.
  5. I thought Dulwich Hill was in Sidney?? Lived here for 50 years, never heard of Dulwich Hill. And I agree - this is a solution in search of a problem. What exactly are the social or environmental benefits a CPZ will produce?
  6. Steve the Spin Doctor just repaired our washing machine. Really impressive. Quick diagnosis, no messing about. Reasonable rate. Thanks Steve!
  7. Thinking of buying this folding ebike. Good reviews, but you can?t look at it let alone try it before buying it online. Does anyone own one? Or has anyone tried it? Would be good to have the views of real people.
  8. Got a text from Royal Mail yesterday saying they'd deliver our Lat Flow Tests between 10 and 13.00 - they didn't. This is truly appalling. We now have 5 important letters/parcels missing, and those are only the ones we know of. I just wrote to the escalations team at [email protected] - my expectations are low.
  9. Third attempt at having a small package delivered from a bike shop near King?s Cross, this time by tracked delivery. Item went to Croydon Mail Centre, from there to Gatwick, where it?s been stuck since 29th December. I give up. The complaints system is a complete joke. Meanwhile a red mail delivery trolley has been chained to a fence in Stuart Road since before Christmas. Wonder what?s in there.
  10. A big hole near Harris Boys. Nobody working on it, but a helpful message from Thames Water: we expect to finish on 19th September. Clearly not a priority.
  11. Just went past - big hole near Harris Boys. Nobody working on it, but a very helpful notice from Thames Water: we expect to finish on 19th September. Not a huge priority, then.
  12. From TFL: Status alert for route 63 Road being closed both directions due to a burst water main and road sinking. As a result, route 63 is ending/commencing its journey at Peckham Rye and route 363 is diverting from Peckham Rye and will not serve stops between Friern Rd and Underhill Rd in either direction.
  13. Rules have changed. You need a lateral flow test less than 48 hours old to get into France (fully vaccinated). In Italy, France etc pharmacies can give you a certificate. Day Lewis say they may start this service, but very vague about it.
