I would advise speaking to structural engineer and building control if chimney breast is supporting stack above in loft and roof and if it supports next doors stack as well ,very important you let building control at the council know what you intend doing for peace of mind Cheers Dave (plastercare damp proofing )

My prefered solution to this issue was to insulate wall from inside, not always possible because of space and decorative plaster, Cheers Dave
