  1. Another recommendation from me. There are a lot of very impressive pieces of art and sculpture of a high standard in this intriguing little gallery space. It's open this and next weekend only.
  2. Still looking! Mainly thinking about South of London but any new suggestions gratefully received - even including cheaper areas of London particularly South or south-east London.
  3. We're still looking for the right area to move to from East Dulwich (after a gap in looking) We've probably narrowed it down to Sussex - we're quite interested in the area in and around Lewes and Sephiroth's feedback about it in this thread is very useful. If anyone else has feedback on places in Sussex which are not too quiet or small, and ideally with a railway station nearby, and are a bit cheaper than SE22 that would be great.
  4. This is why we will be going along to protest, whatever the weather. See their flyer, attached and a bit more info here about this right-wing youth group /“white supremacist” American import supported by the likes of Lawrence Fox aka panto dame 'Widow Wanky' and a few fake vicars - https://hopenothate.org.uk/2019/02/05/everything-need-know-launch-turning-point-uk/
  5. Hi Libby, I was also looking for a QR code generator for my new business cards. I found this online one (link below) . It says static QR codes are free if you use it, but you have to pay to get dynamic QR codes. I'm not sure if my website URL would require static or dynamic. the URL won't change but the content within it would change as I often update the website itself with new pages and posts etc. hopefully someone on the forum who knows more about this than me can advise! This is the link to the free static QR code generator - I tied it and it does work! https://www.the-qrcode-generator.com/ and here's some blurb about static vs dynamic QR codes https://www.sproutqr.com/blog/static-vs-dynamic-qr-codes
  6. Does anyone know if any of the vaccination centres offer the 2nd booster / 'Spring vaccine' to people not on the high risk list if they have left-over supplies? I had my booster quite early as I'm relatively high risk due to asthma but my surgery just said 'wait for a letter when eventually eligible'. As my booster was over 6 months ago I doubt it's still effective. Last time we got our boosters because people hadn't turned up and the clinic didn't want vaccines to go to waste so I wondered if the same is happening with these ones?
  7. Just to warn anyone who is expecting deliveries from Amazon etc to make sure to tell the courier firms to leave in a safe place if you are going to be out as one of our neighbours had 3 Amazon parcels taken from her doorstep. She found the empty boxes at the end of the road! The delivery drivers often don't ring our bell even when we are in but just leave stuff outside.
  8. We're re-doing our kitchen and have to get a new hob . We've currently got a 4x gas ring one but are wondering about getting an induction one instead, mainly because it would be easier to clean. If anyone has time to let me know pros/cons of all and what they think is the best, that would be great thanks!
  9. I'm looking for extra income as my earnings have dropped due to not being able to travel to sell my design work in the USA + Europe since the pandemic and many of the companies I used to sell to have now gone into liquidation this last year. I'm trying to think of ways to earn some money - possibly working online as I'm still being cautious re: shielding so wouldn't feel comfortable about working in an office / busy space in the near future. I've been a textile designer (printed, hand painted, embroidered and knitted textiles) selling prototype designs at large trade fairs worldwide for many years and am also an artist. I do sell my work via several online galleries and the usual social media platforms as one-offs which is a nice bonus but it's a very crowded market out there. Although my age should not matter, and I'm a pretty young and colourful 61 yr old going on 29 (according to friends/colleagues) I do think sometimes that people's perception changes even online when they realise someone's age, and certainly this has been the case re: face to face jobs. Anyway, after rambling on like a 99 year old, I am posting this as I was just wondering if anyone else is or has been in a similar position as it would be good to compare notes!
  10. My friend's daughter is studying product and furniture design at uni and has to find some work experience in the next few months. She'd like to work with a fairly young, fun and innovative company anywhere in London, ideally a multi-disciplinary studio where she may be able to assist in designing or making, although she is happy to help with anything to get the experience. She's also trying to compile a list of suitable companies to contact for when she graduates. Any suggestions / recommendations gratefully received!
  11. We have been left a (very) small inheritance by a relation and want to put it where we can easily access it, but where it is as secure as possible. We currently bank with Barclays but their customer service on this has been awful, and also we would like to put it somewhere else anyway. What's Lloyds near the library like? Or any good online bank suggestions?
  12. I'm also interested in this - did you get any website designer recommendations, Naiada?
  13. That's a really helpful info, Sephiroth. We've looked at Lewes too, but going by the estate agents windows, it didn't look a lot cheaper than London... Do you / anyone else know much about Rye and the surrounding area? We like bits of Rye although it does look a bit twee / small..... There seem to be lots of houses for sale or sold around SE22 at the moment - where are you all moving to, sellers?
  14. Just to warn anyone thinking of arranging a 'click and collect' from Sainsburys at Dog Kennel hill that although we've previously had several really good ones with helpful and friendly staff and all items were as ordered, last week when we went to pick up the latest we could see there were not many bags of items. It was raining hard so we couldn't stop and check it all there and the people in the van said just call customer services when back if there is a problem. There were 27 items missing and it is impossible to get through to customer services apart from head office who then phoned through. We're shielding but were told to go into the store to the customer services desk to arrange for them to bring out the items. There was another couple there who had also had the same issues as us - loads missing, wrong items etc. Customer services didn't apologise and just said it was a combination of problems with staff both in the store and in the click and collect area (who incidentally were not observing any social distancing with customers even after we asked them nicely to move away a bit!!) Seems like Sainsburys have a lot of new and untrained people on this at the moment. My advice is to only book one at Dog Kennel hill if you have 2+hours to spend trying to phone and get it sorted, then prepare to go back to the store for further cock-ups!! If anyone knows whether the situation is better at Forest hill or Sydenham please can you let us know?
  15. I agree - it's a great shop with friendly staff and being open 24 hours a day means it should be fairly quiet in the middle of the night, if people (like us) are trying to avoid shopping when other people are around.
