I know this isn't strictly a family room topic but you lot are a wise bunch and it's been so long since I've been out in Soho. I'm taking my mum to see Sister Act next week and want somewhere nice for a quick, pre-theatre dinner. It's on at the Palladium so closest to Soho I think. Can anyone recommend anywhere? It's her birthday so wanted it to be nice. Thanks
Barrafina on frith street does fab tapas - no reservations and all sitting at the bar style though. Think opens around 5ish so if you got there early would be fine. Loads of lovely places round there though....sigh...can't imagine when I'll ever go back up for lovely soho evenings..! Have a nice time.

    • Typically the way 'family run businesses' operate is either to have family members continue the business, or to sell on, either as a site (in this instance) or as a going concern. Either which way this is the way the owners create a 'pension' from the business. The number of suggestions as to alternatives makes me feel that the market for small repairing garages locally may be well served, so selling on the site makes the best financial sense for the owners. It's a sign not of the times but of normal business realities.
    • I agree it's a shame, but it is not a "sign of the times", unless you think that up to now people have never grown older and retired!
