HelBel65
Hi all, Not sure if this is the right section for this post, but here goes. Posting for a friend who is caring for a close family member at home. He has advanced dementia and very poor mobility. Social services are involved but she wants to explore some private options. She asked me to post here to ask if anyone has experience of, or can recommend, a carer who can help for an hour or two most evenings. This would be mainly to help get him to bed, so it would be quite physical work. A local person would be ideal as the time required is short (there are other carers involved so this would be to supplement what they do) This is for the short term but it looks like a live in carer may be be the better solution eventually. Any advice or personal recommendations for either or both scenarios would be much appreciated. siousxiesue
Check out a company called Seakr. They match a carer to an individual. Link to comment https://www.eastdulwichforum.co.uk/topic/200199-carers-advice-please/#findComment-1268586 Share on other sites
IlonaM
Does your friend know about Southwark Carers - an organisation for those caring for people with disabilities/health needs? Worth a look in terms of advice, support, respite care etc.: www.southwarkcarers.org.ukAlso I was looking at advice/supportoptions the other day in another context and found some very interesting options, including home care services and dementia support, on the AgeUK site: https://www.ageuk.org.uk/services/in-your-area/ Link to comment https://www.eastdulwichforum.co.uk/topic/200199-carers-advice-please/#findComment-1268595 Share on other sites
