Hello,

I am not from round these parts, but I am hoping that some of the good citzens of the forum might be able to help. I am hoping to build a roof extension on my flat in Hackney and have been advised to put in an applicaiton for pre-planning advice, but no advice on what to include in the application has been forth coming from the plannning department. Has anyone out there done this, and do you have any tips on what should be included to get some decent advice back.

Many thanks

Still free in hackney but should probably move fast! My flat is a bit unsual, I had an architect draw up some plans, and even though he was local, he was not sure what would be approved given the particulars of my gaff. I am thinking free advice not to be sniffed at, and will give me confidence in the refinancing. Lovin the forum
Yeah if it's free then fill your boots. Otherwise I'd just whack the full app in. It gets you a chance to meet the planning officer on site and discuss the application (and what they don't like about it). You can withdraw your app and resubmit changes within the same fee if I'm not mistaken...

Hi there reeko -

here is the link to Southwark's pre application fee/form.

Although Southwark don't commit to turning pre app advice round within a timescale, generally you could expect to hear back within a couple of weeks.

I would recommend using the pre app. It could give you a quick guide if what you are hoping to achieve is a no no before you have spent lots of money on drawings and a professional's fees.

If you do submit a planning application, you do get a second chance as Senor Chevalier mentions above.

I hope this helps!

AI suggests: Upcycling old cheque books can involve repurposing the paper from old checks into creative items like notebooks, journals, art pieces, gift tags, bookmarks, decorative paper, or even small boxes, by cutting, decorating, and assembling the paper to create new functional or decorative objects, while ensuring any personal banking information is properly obscured or removed.
