The sky is really really clear!

Look up and you can see the moon including the part in earth's shadow, and the two planets AND a plane or maybe a satellite right right up in the sky miles away (its moving really fast)

The satellite may have been the International Space Station and the two planets are Venus and Jupiter. And there is another thread about this somewhere. Fabulous innit.

The Moon tonight looks that way due to it's Phase. Not the Earths Shadow. That would be an Eclipse.

Does look brilliant though with Venus really bright. and I believe Jupiter ?? a bit fainter.

Just to clarify DF's point, that's the Moon's own shadow you're seeing, not Earth's.

I feel a tad agoraphobic if I can see more than about 8 stars overhead!!
