Party democracy is the enemy of representative democracy.....

An excellent article (rare for the op-ed section of the Graun these days).....

Rather than the voting population at large being the main influencers for MPs's, it's increasingly niche cabals of party members that dictate the political agenda in this country....on both sides of the aisle...

How do we reassert the primacy of representative democracy over party democracy?

    • Niko came to the house this afternoon at quite short notice, to replace a pair of knackered tap cartridges - the units containing the on/off flow valves. The hard water gets to them. Which he did in a few minutes, before - at his own insistence - there and then sorting out two other plumbing problems: another pair of failing tap cartridges, and the seriously clogged-up drainage away from my kitchen sink and washing machine. Expert, brisk, thorough, generous - in a word, professional. And his charge for all this (parts, labour, time) was extremely reasonable. He is a master plumber and a nice guy. Niko clearly deserves all the commendation he receives. He is at 07818-607-583. Lee Scoresby
    • It's been blocked for ages and no movement so far.  Whatever needed fixing initially, most likely it's a much bigger problem now. Surely Southwark Council cannot say this is because of lack money if millions can be wasted on never ending refurbishment of closed Dulwich Village junction...?
    • It's humans that created this "wildlife space" ,they are quite happy and very aware of us as mostly friends. Other wildlife is their main threat!  behave yourself! lol!
    • It's quite a large area of water, reeds etc! I'm sure they had sufficient places to find privacy when the bridge was open, should they not be hungry and after bird seed!
