andypandy
Too many times the forum is used for a good old moan. So I'd just like to ask you to say something nice about something in East Dulwich, can be anything but the rule is that that you are not allowed to p1ss on anyone's bonfire just say what you are bigging up and why. Could be a business, person, Foxtons, BBC. I don't care as long as it's positive. To start off... I'd like to big up the Turkish Supermarket on Forest Hill Rd - just because they do heaps of things, good veg and i like the guys that run it. More than just a convenience store. Angelo
Hi andypandy, good thread, I love the park in Dulwich, the hot choc and marshmellows in the cafe is really lush. Bellenden Belle
Great thread - you know what I really like - just the little walk through Goose Green - I love the architecture of St John's; I love all those town houses; I like the bollards that always make me smile; the kids playground. And it connects me from the Bellenden area where I live to Lordship Lane. It's a short five minute walk I do all the time but it never ceases to make me smile. And the fact that it is on a main road doesn't bother me in the slightest - cause I love cities and like the fact that a small patch of grass can make me happy. Smbs onwards towards goose green. With the colours painted above ground floor level. . odd suggestion maybe. Its not a grand view. . fish
The view of the church at the top of Barry Road, when you turn right from Peckham Rye near the Clock House and drive towards it. LibraCarr
unapproved by me because it's a whinge and this is a non moaning thread - markHi all,I really like the numbheads that walk across the bottom of Northcross Road on a Saturday without looking, and also the stall holders that exit the back of the stalls. It is like a game of virtual people bowling! When you toot to advise that you are there they look at you and utter the shortened version of that you are devoid of parentage.I also like the high priced junk that people buy there. Its good that the residents of East Dulwich are keen on recycling.regards,Libra Carr. MrBen
Sitting under a weeping willow tree by the pond in Peckham Rye park in glorious sunshine watching butterflies. Many wonderful, special meals at the back of The Palmerston. The cheerful friendly vibe around Northcross Road on a sunny Saturday morning.A tangible comforting sense of community in the heart of what is often an unfriendly, impersonal city. And the barmaids offering great service at The Bishop.(Edited to remove boorish, sexist, ungentlemanly but ultimately complimentary comment referred to by Ratty below) Link to comment https://www.eastdulwichforum.co.uk/topic/2363-big-up-something-in-ed/#findComment-69310 Share on other sites

I might no buy all my grocery's there but it is close, handy and a good place to bump into other forumites!Edited to correct name Link to comment https://www.eastdulwichforum.co.uk/topic/2363-big-up-something-in-ed/#findComment-69312 Share on other sites
citizenED
Agree with so much of the above; but also, the accessibility of the place. From my place near the Plough I can walk in any direction and get somewhere lovely without having to go through anywhere nasty. Walk south to the Horniman Museum and Gardens, walk north to Lordship Lane, walk down the very lovely Barry Road to Peckham Rye and the great cafe there, walk down Etnella Road to Dulwich Park.Jump on any several buses to get into town, either the South Bank or the West End. Fantastic.ps Thanks AndyPandy for the thread. Link to comment https://www.eastdulwichforum.co.uk/topic/2363-big-up-something-in-ed/#findComment-69336 Share on other sites

sallyfran
Being able to walk across Peckham Rye Park, cross a road and go up to my allotment on the hill just behind. The walks around Nunhead Cemetery and round Sydenham Woods. The lovely Tam in Village Way hairdressers who shows just as much charm and courtesy to old ladies and untrendy people with rubbish hair as to funky young people and minor celebs, and who always knows by instinct whether you want to talk or not.Chatting with Jeff on the fish van on Northcross Road on a Saturday morning and buying his smoked mackerel.Val as mentioned. The great selection of cards and courteous staff in the card shop.Bunmi Stephens, unusually friendly and cheerful dentist on Forest Hill Road.Knowing more of my neighbours than anywhere else I have lived.
