And the good news is that it should be a bit warmer than last Saturday. There isn't any bad news. The ride starts at 10am and finishes two hours later at Dulwich Clock Cafe in Dulwich Park SE21 7BQ.

This is the usual easy-paced ride and the destination this time is Beckenham Place Park. The group will leave the park via the Roseberry Gate onto the South Circular but don't be afraid -- cyclists can legally cycle on the pavement on both sides of the South Circular and that's what the group will be doing. They will turn towards the old Harvester junction and turn right up Lordship lane, past the Horniman and then down London Road, using mostly cycle and bus lanes.

At the junction at Forest Hill Station, everyone will dismount and use the crossing and the pedestrian underpass before continuing to Mayow Park, Bell Green and the Waterlink Way (National Route NR21). The WW way is a delightful route along the Ravensbourne bits of which have been rewilded, presumably so they can flood in places which don't matter.

They go south briefly on NR21 before turning left under the railway and following quiet streets to Beckenham Place Park (see pic). There will be a brief stop at the Palladian-style 18th century mansion then back by the same route to the Waterlink Way. Variation on the way back and a lot more of the completely off-road Waterlink Way which is always nice. Over the footbridge in Ladywell Park which is not nice and back to Peckham Rye Park following LCN22, through the park and back to the Court Lane entrance to Dulwich Park.

There's a route map here:

in case all those names and streets have given you a headache. The distance is about 10 miles. I couldn't honestly tell you it was flat but the footbridge in Ladywell Park is the worst bit.

These rides are organised by Bruce Lynn and friends on behalf of Southwark Cyclists https://southwarkcyclists.org.uk which is the borough group of the London Cycling Campaign https://lcc.org.uk. Like everything we do it is free and as welcoming as we can make it. To contact us mail [email protected], tweet @southwarkcycle, or text Bruce on 07792 279 945.

    • Folk can’t even be bothered to put a collar and bell around their moggy’s neck so the chance of getting them to sterilise said creatures seems tiny to me.
    • It’s almost always a Landells/Landcroft rd mistake. Try knocking on the Landcroft number that corresponds to your property.
    • Does anyone know what happened to the St Christopher's hospice tree guys who used to have a plot at the Plough? Have they moved somewhere else?  Or alternatively, does anyone know where I get a tree where some of the money goes to a charity.  Am aware that all the local schools have already had their fairs so that's not an option.  Thanks all
    • Malumbu, you're absolutely right. The vet bills due to attacks on neighbouring cats are certainly not insignificant at all. The wounds can even lead to fatalities. I always urge clients, neighbours & community posters to target the root cause, as opposed to skirting around the underlying & often persistent issue. Connecting with local organisations like Celia Hammond Animal Trust, Cats Protection or Trap-Neuter-Return (TNR) initiatives is a longterm solution. This is heighlighted, although briefly, under Improving Community Wellbeing. - I'd also like to highlight that if ever unsure whether the culprit is intact, owned or feral, & are hesitant to report, just in case it's a neighbour's neutered cat, you can call upon a Scan Angel or our team at TWB to check for a microchip first. - If the culprit does happen to be a neighbour's neutered cat, there are a variety of solution; both immediate & longterm that I would be more than happy to help with.
