I am looking for a women's bike for a short commute to work.

Ideally I would like a lightweight bike with handlebars that are less than 54" (137cm) wide.

My budget is ?150 max.

Also those sizes aren't right for handlebars as they would be over 1 metre wide :-o

Lastly, what sort of bike are you looking for? As I am thinking about selling my old commuter bike which is a bit of a Rat bike, i.e. looks tatty (no interest for thieves) but the components are really good and it rides beautifully.

I am no longer in need of a bike but thanks for your reply Steve, i did indeed mean 54cm not inches!
