All details below - all support would be AMAZING.

Thanks everyone

(Order before next Thurs 3rd Dec. Pick up next Sat 5th)

Here's the info that went out online earlier in Around Dulwich (the online version of SE22 Magazine)

We don?t know what Christmas 2020 is going to be like just yet. One thing is certain, we are going to need some cheering up and we?re going to need to keep supporting others in our school community who have been impacted by the Covid Pandemic.

So this year, instead of traipsing up and down Lordship Lane looking for a Christmas tree, do something wonderful and buy a tree from the Friends of Charter School East Dulwich instead. All profits from sales will go directly to the school and specifically to help those families at school who?ve been impacted by the pandemic.

Buy Your Tree from Us and Support The School and its Families

We?ve partnered with one of the UK?s leading Christmas tree suppliers, Hole Park in Kent who grow all their trees in the High Weald AONB. They supply lots of other schools and church organisations and also supply Brockley Farmers Market.

Here?s how it works:

You have a selection of 3 types of trees: the Nordman Fir (the posh premium one also known as the ?non drop? tree), Blue Spruce (a bit psychedelic and bluish in tone) and Norway Spruce (the traditional tree). Sizes range from 4ft, 5ft, 6ft, 7ft, 8ft or 9ft. Other sizes are available on a special order. We can also offer some Ugly Trees, one?s that haven?t quite made the grade, one?s that might be lonely this Christmas. These are a bit cheaper, prices from ?20.

Order your tree online by 12 noon on Thursday 3 December.

All payments for trees will need to be made in advance and trees will be ready for collection from the school on Saturday 5th December between 9.30am-12pm from the East Dulwich Grove entrance by the gym and dining room area. All trees will come in nets for easy pick up.

If you really, really are unable to pick up, delivery can be arranged at a separate cost of ?3 per tree, please email us [email protected] subject heading DELIVERY XMAS TREE.

Here?s what our lovely customers said about last year:

?Xmas tree. Loved the one last year, would say its the best one we ever had in the house. Price seemed very reasonable. Definitely recommend. Absolutely want another this year?

?I?ll definitely buy through you again this year.?

?It all worked well for us ? price, pick up, etc.?

?Pick up was incredibly easy and given that it is basically A Good Thing, I?d happily recommend to friends and family.?

?Our tree was actually surprisingly perfect.?

?We were very happy with our tree and would be delighted to buy again via the school.?

    • Had a conversation with him before Christmas about the rents. I nearly choked on a chip when he told me what he was paying out for rent and business rates. It's a fair sized space but very expensive all the same. I thought at the time that his days there must be numbered. Will be a shame to see them go because the meals are always spot on, reasonably priced and the staff are always pleasant and welcoming.

    • An interesting article - about a year old. I don't completely agree with all of it, but I think the author has a good grasp of the current situation. https://www.theguardian.com/commentisfree/2022/apr/27/ukraine-war-end-putin-russia-talks There is also the issue of arms and weaponry meant for Ukraine turning up in Africa and being used by unsavoury  groups.  https://www.europarl.europa.eu/doceo/document/E-9-2023-000805_EN.html Putin is too invested in this war and will not end it, doesn't matter to him how many Russians and Ukrainians die and the west will never directly fight Russia as too afraid of WW3, so Ukraine will slowly be destroyed. Diplomacy is really the only way out.
    • Hold on, though - isn't that a proposal for something that would come in by 2026 from a government that isn't buying green bananas?
