karpar
Can anyone recommend a good local dog behaviourist? My dog has fear aggression and we need a bit of help from a specialist. Many Thanks Link to comment https://www.eastdulwichforum.co.uk/topic/276002-dog-behaviourist/ Share on other sites
Huggers
Pam Mulvany if anyone has her number is brilliant. She helped with our rescued dog.he lived till a grand old 14.The key was not to put him in social positions he was not comfortable with. You control and protect him from those situations. You accept he will never be chill.A previous guy who tried to expose him to more stressful situations to desensitise him made the problems much worse so avoid all ?dog whisperer? types. karpar
Thank you for this. She is anxious about certain breeds. I have to constantly scan the park for the trigger breeds and put her on the lead. There are a lot of dogs around at the moment, so I have to be on high alert which probably makes the situation worse. Huggers
Your ?alert? will put her on alert too.just a suggestion but put her on the lead when you don?t see the enemy breed and give her a treat, let her off again and then when you do it when you see an ?enemy breed? you will have slightly broken the association. Teaching the ?watch me? command also will get dog to focus on you not his worries. There is an excellent website called Dogsey that has a forum as fabulous as the EDF - the people there were full of brilliant ideas and also made me feel normal with my sadly under socialised rounding-up anxious reactive collie cross,https://www.dogsey.com/dogforum.php Link to comment https://www.eastdulwichforum.co.uk/topic/276002-dog-behaviourist/#findComment-1486770 Share on other sites
