Window ironmongery- opinions please

Recommended Posts

Please share your opinions on ironmongery for casement windows in late Edwardian houses in Dulwich.

Ours is a hotch potch at the moment of quite fancy original brass- the closest of which is about ?60 per catch to replace- and some cheaper brass more modern replacements- which now look worn.

SHould I relpace with: brass/ chrome/ brushed or satin chrome?

Which would you prefer, or install of you were doing the job?

Thanks

    • Not sure what point you are making I have long since been aware of the issues, and would never have gone for it.  Maybe it cannot be applied without capturing damp.  I question why government part funded it.  But I also question why individuals did not do their own research.  This took me five second, it took longer to cut and paste it here: Royal Institute of Chartered Surveyors The RICS advises homeowners to get independent advice from a qualified professional who is not affiliated with the installer or manufacturer. They also recommend not installing spray foam in listed or protected buildings without prior consent.   Property Care Association The PCA recommends that homeowners carry out appropriate checks to determine if spray foam is suitable for their roof. They also created a protocol for surveyors and lenders to make informed decisions about properties with spray foam insulation.     HomeOwners Alliance The HomeOwners Alliance recommends that homeowners avoid installing spray foam roof insulation.
