sociable cycle rides and picnic June 10th

Recommended Posts

Reminder. There are reports on rides on the Southwark Cyclists web site. Usually photos and a route map. Map allows you – or anyone – to try the ride themselves.

Jun 10th, 12.30 at Southwark Park Bandstand we are holding a Southwark Cyclists Picnic to celebrate BIKE WEEK. There will be a few slightly competitive cycling games suitable for all ages. The contest to be the slowest cyclist is always close.  Everyone is invited including non-cycling friends and family.  Note this is not the same as our other picnic which is held jointly with Lets Go (Bexley), Greenwich Cyclists and other groups that do social rides (provisionally set for August 12th in Greenwich Park).

We will have one ride on Saturday starting in Dulwich and ending at the picnic. Please register for this on Eventbrite so we have some idea of numbers, link: < https://www.eventbrite.co.uk/e/dulwich-to-southwark-park-picnic-ride-tickets-650236674397 >

Ride Details.10am Start at Dulwich Clock Café, in the middle of Dulwich Park. Bruce leading. Exit by Court Lane gate then LCN 5 (includes Crystal Palace Rd) to Rye Lane and Peckham Square. From Peckham down Canal Path and across to Cycleway 10 that will be followed to Deptford Creek. Go down to the Thames then take Thames Path to South Dock and Cycleway 14 to Surrey Quays. From Surrey Quays enter Southwark Park via Gomm Rd. Flat ride mostly quiet streets, cycleway or path. 10 miles, so a nice leisurely pace.  Route at https://www.google.com/maps/d/u/0/edit?mid=1ivLxFJjANPm-2xqXUmMOHwLT1mTh3Uk&usp=sharing

Always give way to pedestrians and to other cyclists so all path users feel safe. Do not turn up to these events if you are displaying symptoms of Covid-19 or are currently testing positive.

This ride is organised by Southwark Cyclists and is part of a regular programme of Saturday rides, more information at https://southwarkcyclists.org.uk/healthy-rides/.
