Rogue underwire in washing machine

I've lost an underwire in my washing machine + it's started making holes in all my clothes.

I've tried to find it sticking out of one of the holes in the drum, but I can't find it.

Is there anything else I do? Or can anybody suggest somebody who can have a look at it who won't cost an arm & a leg (on maternity leave at the mo).

Have you not got a removeable filter somewhere at the bottom of the machine?

If so, if you take it out, you may find it inside.

Yes definitely try the filter first. If you remove the filter you might be able to flush it out as well.

strangely I have this too. It's either one of my gf's wires although she denies losing one! or it is something else. Either way I am sure I can hear it and I now get holes in my t-shirts (not moths!)

You should always put underwired bras inside a pillow case,tie a knot in it, then put it in the machine.

That way, the wires won't escape.

A plumber advised me to do this, after I had to call him out once & he found wires caught in the filter.

I was at the bar once and the barmaid had an underwire sticking up like an antenna! They are obviously a complete menace!
