We passed this car just as an  ambulance was leaving, around 2.30pm today, and the front was totally caved in.

I hope nobody was seriously hurt (or worse).

Just wondering what happened. Buses were having to manoeuvre through a very small gap to get past.

Yes we saw that as the ambulance was still there..a guy was stood on the pavement holding a baby looked like he was in the car perhaps driver? he was talking to the police, both looked uninjured so I assume one of their party was in the ambulance.

We did wonder how on earth it happened because it had clearly ploughed right into the lampost the car was a write off

Impossible to speculate, but the car must either have come from straight ahead or round the corner, and must surely have been going at some speed to have hit the lamp post and caused that amount of damage.

When we passed, a woman was taking what looked like bedding out of the car.

I really hope nobody was hurt. Hopefully the man and baby were just taken to hospital to get checked over as a precaution, as they weren't there when we passed, and the ambulance was just leaving.

    • Mal. Yours is a very idealistic portrait of Margaret Thatcher. That’s not the case and I standby what I’ve written.
    • I'm not convinced that BoE calculator tackles house prices. I think it's only goods and services - e.g. I think 465k in 1997 would buy you the same amount of bananas as £929k would now. but it can't include house prices. Or bitcoins or shares or other investments.
    • It's really not that complex.  There are some long standing Green Party supporters whose primary concern is the environment (who deplore hatred).  There are some left leaning centrists who are disappointed with the Labour party's performance in government who are looking for an alternative socialist party to vote for.  And there are some rabid antisemites who used to get away with that in Labour but found themselves homeless after the EHCR decided  Labour was guilty of unlawful discrimination. It's pretty simple actually.
    • It's not taxes on motoring. It's taxes on value.  The problem for you, and for the government, is that those taxes increase the cost of living exponentially. It doesn't matter whether you buy fuel or not. Everything else you buy relies on someone else who does buy fuel. I'm amazed you can't see that.
