Local foodbank?

Just wondering if anyone knows the details of a local food bank in the area, or even just details of how to give, who might be accepting donations pre-Christmas? I know some of the big supermarkets are doing collections but I feel it would be best to give direct if at all possible.

The church at the top of Barry Road collects donations on behalf of Pecan. I left a load of stuff there the other day.

Yes Pecan are the main local food bank. And recipients have to be referred to them so any donations go directly to those who need them most.

Also... As an alternative, do consider becoming a volunteer at Foodcycle's latest hub which will be based at All Saints directly opposite Peckham Rye.

hubs collect surplus food that would otherwise be wasted from supermarkets and others grocers and prepare a delicious three course sit-down meal for people at risk of food poverty and social isolation.

It's great fun too - every session is like Ready Steady Cook - and it feels incredibly satisfying serving a meal you've prepared.
