I know that Millwall FC has had a bad reputation in the past, but I was curious about how safe a ground it is to go watch a game?

I'm not a millwall supporter or anything, but anyone who travels to London bridge will pass the stadium, and its pretty close by....so just got me thinking?

Is it a hot bed of BNP supporters, and being asian would I face a torrent of racist abuse?

:))Its diabolical.

The moment they see a Non-White face they will hurl bricks and insults at you.

The insults are the worst.

They will ask you who the Millwall Reserve Goalkeeper is and if you do not answer correctly you will get an additional beating for supporting the Away side.

If Millwall are playing Bradford or Luton or Leicester they will just assume that you are not local and you will get another hiding within an inch of your life......other than that its all fine M8

NOW back in the real World, you will be FINE ...I've supported Millwall since 1961, 48 long hard seasons ago and I'm no longer even in the NF or BNP!!(that was a joke btw)....I've been to thousands of games and I can assure you that you will encounter no problems unless, like almost any other ground, you support the other side vocally, while sitting in the middle of the "Home" Millwall End!!

Millwall are doingtheir utmost to welcome all people so I can ASSURE you that you will not encounter any problems, my friend...

If you want to know anything more, then please ask me...

do yourself a favour and walk to the game, its all nice and well hopping off at sth bermondsey stn, but a quick nip through peckham brings you to the ground pretty quickly and you pick up the atmosphere and anticipation on the way, plus the odd pint. we,re flying high at the moment and while automatic promotion is unlikely, the play-off is more or less guaranteed, get your ass down there the more the merrier.

On the three occasions I went there (old den)...er, twice it wasn't especially.....but I'm West Ham ;-)

I've heard the same asked about West Ham who have a similar reputation for some BNP idiots and I've never seen any hassle for Black Supporter (a fair amount) or Asian Supporters (sadly, given the area less) but I am white so I think it's far harder for me to notice to be honest

Well you were in the middle of The Cold Blow Lane singing "Bubbles" with a Crow-Bar in your hand, which probably didn't aid "Entente Cordial"..B)

Been a couple of times with the Saints (might even be going again next season if we go down and Millwall miss out on promotion (this is if we still exist)

Never encountered any problems. If you are in the away part you tend to be shut in until the home fans have dispersed anyway. Never had a problem walking to of from the ground even in colours.

The club have done a lot to rid themselves of the past problems.

I've been several times but always as an away fan. Being a Gillingham fan I've never recieved anything but hostility, contemps and the odd mouthful of spit. Great fun.

To be fair though, it's not that bad. My missus came to the Den for an away game the day our daughter was due.

There's a game on Saturday isn't there?

When you wrote, "I'm not a millwall supporter or anything,", what else did you mean when you said "or anything".

You're not a Southampton supporter either?

You're not a piece of carpet?

You're not a llama?

Sorry, too much coffeeeeeee

    • Well done.   If you're interested in helping nail down the perp -- to get them identified at least, even if the police/CPS don't end up with enough for a prosecution -- I wonder if it would be helpful to: (1) contact Lime. to tell them of the time and location and incident, and that you are reporting the theft to the police, and ask them if they are able and willing to check their bike location records for the incident and _retain_ them for use by the police.  It may be that records of each bike user's travels may not be retained long after their hire period has ended.  And (2) notify the police on-line, with the basic facts.
    • Hi, To the young lady who had her phone stolen by a lime bike this evening at the junction of Brenchley Gardens and Forest Hill rd. I chased the thief and retrieved your phone. When i returned to the junction, you were gone. If you are reading this or know her, DM me.
    • Hi ED, I live on Landcroft road, and from the windows of the back of the property you can hear a whistling noise in the area (sounds like a faulty boiler but louder) occurring every 5-10 minutes for a few seconds. It has been happening for the past week at least. It does not seem to come from the immediate homes around. Does anyone know what this is or where it is coming from? Thanks!
    • Another strong endorsement for Niko! He installed a new tap and fixed a leaky radiator at mine this week and I couldn't be happier. To top it off, he's friendly, honest and really goes the extra mile. Give him a call.
