Washing machine, double bed, sofabed, desk needed for elderly friend

I have an elderly friend moving into a flat locally and he is in need of almost everything, having been through some difficult events recently. He'll need a bed and sofabed urgently so he can be comfortable, and the rest soon after.

I am able to pay a small amount but am hoping to get him some nice things to start him out. I am planning to arrange a collection early next week for the things.
