alternative schools in south london

As a parent of a boy in year 5 i'm beginning to consider the possibilities available for the secondary step.

I've seen a few schools and although some are impressive co ed schools which we may or may not get into i've got this lurking feeling that i may be missing something,an alternative view,i am aware of the steiner schools and i'm not sure thats something we would consider or could afford.

Would love to know if anyone's got any thoughts or they're harbouring a secret secondary school in their garden.
