Traffic Jam Lordship Lane today

Recommended Posts

Mirash Tandoori has been providing high quality Indian food to East Dulwich and the surrounding area since 1990. New item on the menu is traffic jam pickle.

If you had wait in the traffic jam today along Lordship Lane due to a bus having a scrape with a car your wait was made even longer, both lanes blocked because of two parked cars outside the Mirash Tandoori Resturant. The owners of the cars are both are from the Mirash they park everyday like this. If you had to wait in the cold at a bus stop or late for an appointment you know who to thank for your longer delay. Just to lazy to find a parking space that is not a busy road.

They've probably noticed that there are no parking restriction signs on this part of Grove Vale. As long as they stay off the double yellows, they're okay. Any tickets would be invalid for this technicality.

The bigger rush hour parking issues are caused by - as Sean says - people chancing it in the bus lane, including Southwark's 'safety' smartcar. The parking on the corner beyond KwikFit is a problem too - that's often a bottleneck for buses. Usually builders in the cafe, Transit van parked on the single yellow outside.

If the cars from the Mirash are legally parked, then that's a really unfair OP. So what if it's a busy road? If they're allowed to park there, why on earth should they park further away from their place of work?

If illegally parked, then it's irrelevant whether or not they've caused a problem today, they shouldn't be parked there at all.

Exactly the same thing happened yesterday on Dulwich Common, stand still traffic because a bus driver scraped a car. Police didn't arrive for ages either!

The guy went to wipe the marks on his car then noticed it was just dirt, and still didn't drive on..

    • Please understand that I am not doubting the word of anyone who has posted here with problems with bought-in prepared meat, but (I am old) uncooked meat (perfectly 'good' meat) does smell often, we are too used to shrink wrapped and chilled supermarket meat which can be almost scent free - so we are surprised when 'butcher's' meat does smell (and often, if it is uncooked, quite strongly). Indeed game which is high can smell quite strongly, and not in a good way to our 21st C sensibilities, without being off - as in food poisoning off. Certainly prepared meat, when cooked, should smell enticing, and not at all bad - so the experiences quoted above are certainly very worrying - but younger people reading this should not be concerned, particularly, if fresh (raw) meat they have bought from e.g. a proper butchers has a smell to it. Which is not to say that something which smells rank shouldn't be a point of complaint. Even the smell of high-ish game, if left unwrapped, should dissipate once unwrapped. If it increases however it may be  cause for concern. But raw beef or lamb in the joint can often smell of something which isn't necessarily particularly nice, without it being worrying. It will tend to cook with more flavour.
