The Festival week begins at the cinema in Peckham, the Peckhamplex, where we screen a new 75-minute documentary, "from Local to Social", built from the 20-year archive of locally made films. That's Monday 12th February 6-8pm. A Q+A follows the film which is Cert 12A.    A lot of the archive which has helped build this documentary has recently been donated to Southwark Archives. The film therefore features lots and lots of local people down the years, from primary schoolchildren all the way along to pensioners. One outstanding person is local community activist Eileen Conn, of Peckham Vision, who will take part in a round-table event on the Festival Wednesday discussing "Community and f/Faith"; she will be alongside the Police Commander of Lambeth & Southwark DCS Sebastian Adjei-Addoh, former Mayor of Southwark Althea Smith, a retired judge, and two schoolboys, among others. Festival Tuesday has five sessions aimed at young people, looking at Aspiration, Peer Mediation and Financial Education. We are proud to have Elevated Minds CIC as a Festival partner delivering events on the YOUTH theme; for our MENTAL HEALTH strand we are delighted to be working with Michelle Baharier FRSA who was a very early member of Southwark.TV back in 2003; for the COMMUNITY strand and FILM & LOCAL MEDIA strand we at Community TV Trust are the organiser. On Wednesday morning Elevated Minds present a session on Bias up at Southbank Technopark; Thursday morning has a screening of films by young people for young people in Peckham at Dene Centre; Thursday afternoon offers talks on mental health, and a session on crime and mental health, with first, Michelle inviting Dolly Sen and Kym Winstanley to join her at Theatre Peckham from 2-4pm; Thursday 4-6pm also at Theatre Peckham brings Mental Health and Crime together with the screening of a documentary on a therapeutic practice developed by Jonathan Asser called Shame/Violence Intervention.  He put his ideas into practice for a decade with weekly sessions at HMP Wandsworth. Former SVI group members will be taking part in the discussion after the film. Also represented will be Black Elephant and the Howard League for Penal Reform   The Festival concludes on the Friday evening 6-9pm with a "Southwark's Got Talent" show taking place at  160 Tooley Street SE1.   Anyone wishing to attend an event should simply drop me a line identifying which event(s) they are selecting. My email is: [email protected]   A number of events will be recorded for future podcasts, including the sessions on Aspiration, Peer Mediation and the roundtable on "Community and f/Faith". Might these be of interest/use to you?   All events are free and active participation is encouraged though not required.
