This club is aimed at children who want to learn to sew and show off their creativity. This is the first workshop to introduce the sewing machine and how to use the machine. The children will learn how to thread the machine, what parts of the machine does what, safety & care of machine and how to plan projects.
Suitable for complete beginners.
Sewing is not only a creative skill, but it will develop their critical thinking. Through sewing, they will learn:
- how to plan the project and assess the materials needed
- how to convert their visualisation to a design
- how to design using measurements and geometry
- how to cut and assemble their patterns to complete their projects
- how to troubleshoot and fix any mistakes they make along the way
Sewing is a very forgiving art which provides the perfect medium to test out their ideas. Each workshop will lead to extending their skills at the next workshop. The projects have been chosen to teach various sewing techniques via a practical project they can take home every other week.
