Dulwich Folk at the Castle-THE COPPER FAMILY

Such a privilege and pleasure to welcome the Coppers back! Southern England's greatest traditional folk hits from the family that kept the songs for us.

The Coppers have been in Rottingdean since at least 1593; they had 50 songs collected from them in 1896, songs which  became the foundation stone upon which the EFDSS was formed. You can still get those songs in the Copper Family Songbook which was put together by the late great Bob Copper who was also a very important song collector and a brilliant singer.

Today the family is represented by Bob’s son and daughter John and Jill, his son-in-law Jon Dudley and their respective children, Mark, Andy Sean, Ben, Lucy and Tom. Recently Bob’s great grandson Flinn has joined the line-up thus making it the eighth consecutive known generation of The Copper Family to sing.

The last time rhe Coppers came to Dulwich we were packed out- given that (amazingly) they haven't played London this year this will be a very busy night.

Get here early.

Entrance tonight is £15
