Building a Career in Gardening - with London School of Horticulture
Saturday 28th February 2026, 10.30am - 1.30pm
Rosendale Allotments Community Building, 227 Rosendale Rd, SE21 8LP
A new workshop for anyone interested in the nuts and bolts of turning gardening into paid work - whether you’re considering a career change, starting from scratch, or already gardening for a living but ready to take the next step.
We'll discuss study and training options, and how to get started in your own business: what to look out for, the resources, tools and skills you might need - and the pitfalls you might meet – as you build a career in gardening. We’ll look at what professional garden maintenance really involves, how people typically get started and how to move from doing the odd gardening job to running a viable, enjoyable business. We’ll cover the information to help you decide whether self-employment is the right fit for you and we’ll also look at what other career paths there are.
This short, practical workshop is informal, realistic, and grounded in real-world experience - led by tutors who between them have done it all! There will be plenty of space for questions and discussion.
Workshops held on Saturday morning in our Rosendale Allotments classroom with a small group.
