Join us at Oliver Projects for Tension and Release, a spoken word open mic inspired by Siphiwe’ - Nokukhanya Mnguni's first solo exhibition, Look! BIG WHIP!!!.
Siphiwe’s work explores identity and perception through bold, playful images of the Black female body, moving between moments of pressure and freedom. Inspired by a trip to Bali and Lombok, the exhibition title comes from surfers shouting “big whip!” when a powerful wave appears — a reminder to face life’s challenges and surrender to the unexpected.
Co-curated by Siphiwe-Nokukhanya Mnguni and Anna-Margarita, this special evening features a stellar line-up of artists responding to the theme. The session will take place in the gallery, amongst the new exhibition.
