Well puwetter. most Lottery scams involve emails or letters being sent to you..


You have suggested there's two people going round scamming people out of money.

How exactly are they doing this.

Should we all for example be wary of 2 people knocking at our door. ???

If it's the one I found - you have to be a little greedy to fall for the scam. I once brought fake gold on oxford street in 1983 - that was the last money for nothing scam I bothered with.


I suppose that's the nature of scams.

Basically, they tell you they have won but cannot collect because not British. They offer to share the winnings with you if you collect on their behalf but they want some security from you so you don't run off with the ticket.


You have to remember, they are very very good at tricking people so you really have to nt trust people.


They target vulnerable people.


Greedy, maybe - but they can be convincing.

It's a pity that the default position to people who approach you has to be mistrust rather than assuming they are being friendly or honest. Over the years I have learnt to get rid of them sooner rather than try and worm your way out of the situation politely.

We feel for you, and I?d imagine you?re somewhat embarrassed by the scam, but that?s why scams are what they are. In hindsight they stink, but at the time they appeal to people.


But to help others, then maybe the facts outlined on here would be helpful. That way people are aware, and you?ve helped someone else avoid this type of thing.


I was scammed out of ?5K last year, in a bank scam. It killed me as in hindsight I saw it, but I fell for it, and made me feel stupid and careless, but I?m none of those things. Luckily my bank eventually helped and I got it all back bar ?150, I was incredibly lucky.


I still beat myself up over missing the signs, but talking to people helped. I realised I wasn?t alone in being scammed.

Neither the Police nor the Banks blame victims.


If you have money/cards stolen for instance it would be very easy for them to blame you for being alone in a pub you don't know (it's happened) - they do refer you to victim support :)

      Please understand that I am not doubting the word of anyone who has posted here with problems with bought-in prepared meat, but (I am old) uncooked meat (perfectly 'good' meat) does smell often, we are too used to shrink wrapped and chilled supermarket meat which can be almost scent free - so we are surprised when 'butcher's' meat does smell (and often, if it is uncooked, quite strongly). Indeed game which is high can smell quite strongly, and not in a good way to our 21st C sensibilities, without being off - as in food poisoning off. Certainly prepared meat, when cooked, should smell enticing, and not at all bad - so the experiences quoted above are certainly very worrying - but younger people reading this should not be concerned, particularly, if fresh (raw) meat they have bought from e.g. a proper butchers has a smell to it. Which is not to say that something which smells rank shouldn't be a point of complaint. Even the smell of high-ish game, if left unwrapped, should dissipate once unwrapped. If it increases however it may be  cause for concern. But raw beef or lamb in the joint can often smell of something which isn't necessarily particularly nice, without it being worrying. It will tend to cook with more flavour.

      Just an update  The ducklings were picked up by a lady from an animal sanctuary Sussex,  hopefully they have a good life ahead of them
