  2. Children's plastic sled in red. Intact and in very good condition. Levers for 'brakes' and a pull-cord in front. I'd love a bar of Green & Black's chocolate in return, please? Either milk chocolate or almond. Collect from Sydenham. Thank you.
  3. I think this is "Lack". This one is 55cm x 55cm for the size of the tabletop, and 45cm high. Yours for a bar of Green & blacks chocolate. Collect from Sydenham.
  4. Hamster cage. Includes wheel, water bottle, little house to live in. Also will include in for free some bedding and food (not pictured). Collect from Sydenham.
  5. Sweet little piano stool for sale. I bought this from the EDF years ago, and never got around to upholstering it. It has had only light/minimal use. The legs are sturdy enough for a child to use this as a piano stool, otherwise it could be a pretty hallway chair or similar. It needs some tlc - you'll most likely want to reupholster it, and the underside needs a little attention. I ask £15 as a token amount, because I'm clearing out and I want this to find a new home now for now. Collect from Sydenham. Smoke-free and pet-free home. No time wasters please!! If you would like the item, please message me in a reasonable way, offering a specific time that you would be able to collect from SYDENHAM for £15. Don't just send me a one-liner saying "yh I'll take it" Yours respectfully, Claire
  6. Hello, I don't live in the neighbourhood any more but still drive through ED/Dulwich for school stuff I haven't been able to stop and read the road signs carefully but am worried about all these fines and about the risk of accidentally driving down the wrong roads at the wrong time... Could some kind person say exactly where the new restrictions are in Dulwich Village? thank you!
  7. Hi, just wondering if anyone has any intel on the state of the queues etc at Ikea - is it futile to think of making a trip?
  8. Go to Gill! She's wonderful, and she's successfully tutored loads of ED kids for the 11+ and independent entrance exams. She's very steady and calm, really experienced ... The kids love the lessons, they all learn, do their own homework, and most importantly don't get at all stressed out about it! She's on Ashbourne Grove. Good luck.
  9. Hi, thought I'd post in the family room this time - maybe some of you know people who've recently done their A'levels or finished university who might be interested. Internship opportunity in publishing, at Faber & Faber. Open to people from lower income minority background. https://creativeaccess.org.uk/opportunity/trainee-publishing-assistant-3/ Claire
  10. Hello, just wanted to recommend Gill's 11+ prep course that she runs during the October half term. If the format is the same as when my daughter did it, the course runs Monday to Thursday, with a set of practice tests on the Monday under exam conditions; then Tues and Wed are spent going over the papers and revising topics as needed. She's a very experienced and calm teacher, and she talks through things like time management and the importance of identifying and tackling the high value questions, stuff like that. On the Thursday they do another set of mock tests. At the end, Gill gives the parent a breakdown of the child's scores for both the Monday and the Thursday tests, and you should see that there's been an improvement. She'll also tell you which areas the child should focus on during the remaining time before January. My child did the course and found it very helpful, and came away feeling very calm and prepared. I've recommended Gill to many friends in ED: she's been tutoring and doing 11+ prep for a long time and she really knows what she's doing. Good luck!
  11. Hello, Just wanted to spread the word about this event, for anyone who might not have seen it on twitter/facebook... This is a free event run by Penguin Random House UK on how to get published, particularly geared towards under-represented authors and illustrators. The website is here https://www.spreadtheword.org.uk/penguin-writenow-2018-is-live/ and here's the main blurb below... On Saturday 8 September, in partnership with Spread the Word, Penguin Random House will be hosting a free workshop at its office in London for 50 writers about how to get their book published, with advice and insights from established authors, literary agents and other industry experts. The event will also give each attendee the unique opportunity to receive one-on-one feedback from a Penguin Random House editor on their manuscript. WriteNow is Penguin Random House?s flagship campaign which aims to seek out, mentor and publish new and under-represented voices on the UK?s bookshelves. This includes writers and picture book illustrators from BAME (Black, Asian, Minority Ethnic) or LGBTQ (Lesbian, Gay, Bisexual, Trans, Queer) communities, those who have a disability, or come from a socio-economically marginalised background. Penguin Random House is calling for unpublished writers in fiction, non-fiction, and children?s/Young Adult genres, as well as illustrators of children?s picture books, who consider themselves under-represented in publishing to apply. 50 talented writers will be invited to attend the free workshop in London in September, with 10 illustrators invited to attend the Nottingham event. The application period is open until midnight on Monday 9 July (for writers) and midnight on Monday 23 July (for illustrators), with further information about how to apply available at www.write-now.live.
  12. Hello, looking for recommendations for someone who can visit a client at home for a post-chemotherapy haircut. Also recommendations for mobile manicurist please. Someone who has experience with cancer patients might be best, if there are any recommendations for such a person out there? thanks
  13. @rahrahrah @edcam Please have a look here: http://randomstabbing.tumblr.com/post/144989720467/the-tip-of-the-iceberg-please-add-to-this-list and http://womanmeanssomething.com/1034-2/ The study, available at www.womanmeanssomething.com/targetstudy, shows that voyeurism-related offenses increased significantly after the publication of Target?s policy?doubling or tripling according to all measures, while other sexual offense categories changed little. The findings are consistent with the ?sex-predator? theory which has posited that sexual offenders may use gender-identity policies in private spaces to gain access to women and children in order to perpetrate sexual violence. This study is the first longitudinal analysis of risks related to gender-inclusion policies. The incident database is open-source and is available for further exploration and analysis.
