  1. We asked Tom to hang a variety of pictures that we had not re-hung after decorating and very glad we did. Compared to the mess that i had made originally hanging them (both the damage to the wall as well as the mildly annoying lack of consistency in levels), Tom did it all properly - measuring, marking out, accurately placing the fixings, ensuring all straight and correct and clearing up well after. Thoroughly recommend and already discussing on hanging some picture in my workplace up in town.
  2. Another recommendation for Gardenia. Our garden had never been given the attention it deserved and was complicated with mature trees, aged decking, a mud patch in place of grass and old wooden raised beds collapsing disgracefully into the mud. Helen was not hugely impressed and produced some ideas to create a much more usable space and to bring the garden to life with sympathetic planting. Steve and Team worked tirelessly to put the hard landscaping in place to make the garden usable all year round and the planting has really pulled it all together. Its such a lovely space now it has really added another dimension to the house and increased our living space.
  3. It's all been said, but it's all true. Prompt, reliable, excellent value. Took down an old climbing frame and a children's playhouse and decking. along with an old trampoline and piles of wood. Was done quickly and efficiently and at a very reasonable price. already have a price for a shed which is on its last legs.....
  4. thanks both - managed to get a new router out of Sky so i'll see if that makes any difference. there seems to be a bit of work by Openreach going on at the cabinet so will see once that has been completed. using the sky router as a bridge sounds like it could be the way forward.....
  5. Evening all, I have sky fibre max which had been running ok at 50-60 download and 20 upload. after some problems with Openreach I can now only get 0-20 download and about 10 up. as a family of 6 with two working parents and two teenagers this doesn't cut it. There seems to be no issue with speed from exchange to router - 60-70 every day until the issue last Thursday. Engineer reckons Router is an issue but no chance of getting through to Sky at the moment. Has anyone replaced the Sky Router with a modem and alternative router? I have the ER110 from sky currently so ought to be fine but there is clearly some issue. beyond the right spec of gear, I understand that there is a certain degree of reconfiguring required to suck the VDSL username and password out of the existing router? if anyone has done this or even has half an idea of what all that means, I would be most grateful. working from home and listening to endless complaints from hormonal teenagers is driving me even more mad than I was before....
  6. Another recommendation for Wayne after reading all these reviews. a 10 hour marathon has brought our much loved Caravelle looking almost as good as it did when we bought it in 2009. 4 kids, multiple trips to france and a dog had taken their toll but Wayne worked tirelessly, and with a smile, to restore some pride to the old bus. cannot recommend highly enough.
  7. appreciate its a tad late - but foolproof chicken curry: 2 onions - sliced - soften with: 5 cloves 5 whole cardamum seed 1 whole dried red chile 2 table spoons of whole cumin seed once onion soft add skinless chicken - boneless and/or thighs/drumsticks brown off add 2 table spoons of turmeric powder stir through so powder absorbed add two tins tomatoes - chopped/plum - whatever big squirt of tom puree season simmer for as long as possible - min 45 mins up to hours..... with lid on wonky top up with water if necessary serve with rice and naan and jobs a good'un
  8. we have kloeber doors. delivered on time, went in like a dream and still look amazing and behave prfectly two years after installing.
  9. there are many bad, bad names i would like to call him, but i really don't think he's worth it. I would be ashamed of my kids and their friends if they acted in any way like these clowns from SSW. they are in primary school.
  10. Zipcar will do you a quote for longer periods such as you looking for
  11. Take Flight Academy is great - they run after school clubs at St Hildas in Crofton Park or in a hall in Barry Road (less familiar with that location). lots of fun and the kids really enjoy it (full disclosure - my wife helps run the saturday school and three of my kids attend either the saturday school or after school club - but they love it!) http://takeflightacademy.co.uk/classes/after-school-clubs
  12. I think its so exciting that graves, previously lost, are now being found and the history is now being uncovered. the fact that the graves had fallen into such disrepair and were buried beneath undergrowth and trees surely indicates the lack of family local and able enough to care for them over the years. Maybe now people may be more able to trace long dead relatives and understand better their family history. Blanche - whilst you are there taking photos of wood chips and tree stumps, could you also get a few close ups of the headstones? Maybe we could even have a new thread to try and track down any existing relatives!
  13. nice to see the graves being uncovered - thanks for the photos Blanche
