  1. NewWave Wrote: ------------------------------------------------------- > Absolute 80's and 'Magic FM' aint my thing... > As you guessed I'm more of a New Wave kinda gal Lol I think I was mixing up New Wave and New Romantic music... Though I believe both did start in the 80s/post punk. 80s pop was indeed pretty trashy, But then I like a bit of trash now and again. I'll be giving Megan's a chance
  2. I love 80s music! Sounds fab! (New wave: how can you have a name like NewWave and hate 80s music 🤷🏼‍♂️) Some one should tell them that absolutely no-one I know calls Lordship Lane "The Lordship" though. People will think it's situated on top of a pub 🤣 [Their sign says "Megan's on the Lordship"]
  3. Qi Gong classes in Peckham Rye Park are back! As the weather is getting warmer (18 degrees today, woo hoo!) I'm, restarting Qi Gong in the Park. If you don't already know Qi Gong combines easy but dynamic stretching exercises with more meditative flowing movements and meditation. We'll meet at our usual tree (just west of the Sexby Garden, south of the Japanese shelter) at: 1pm on Sundays. Pay what you can, but suggested fee: ?5. Classes last 1 hour Those that want to can join us for a pub lunch at the Herne Tavern after class. Message or email me to join the Qi Gongers WhatsApp group. 4. New! Tibetan Singing Bowls Massage & Sound Therapy Last month in Thailand I learned a new therapy, that I'm now thrilled to be able to offer to you lucky people! Tibetan Singing Bowls create vibrations that are used to massage the whole body and produce sound waves that promote deep relaxation. A mallet is rubbed around the rim of one bowl that is placed on the back, legs, feet, arms, hands and chest, which creates strong vibrations, resonating deep into the muscles. Other bowls, that are tuned to specific musical notes and said to be aligned to the different chakras, are then placed either on the body or around the head and are struck in different combinations creating a deeply immersive and therapeutic experience like no other! A one hour Tibetan Singing Bowls Therapy session can be combined with a 30 minute Ayurvedic Deep Tissue Massage or Abhyanga Deep Relaxation Massage. Alternatively, you can combine a 30 minute Tibetan Singing Bowls Therapy session with a 30 minute back massage or 1 hour full body massage (Deep Tissue or Abhyanga). Click here to book your session https://widget.treatwell.co.uk/place/thai-vedic-massage/?utm_source=partner&utm_medium=salon-site-embedded-book-now-widget Or text me if you have questions Stephen Nock Thai-vedic Massage 72 Crawthew Grove 07950933150 [email protected] https://www.thai-vedicmassage.co.uk
  5. I thought I'd rename this Chinese Yoga, to see if I can attract any of you yogis. It's like yoga, just more flowing and meditative. Similar to Tai Chi, but SO much easier! No need to learn a complicated sequence of moves, in Qi Gong you just follow the teacher! Involving deep breathing, simple stretches, flowing movements and guided meditation Qi Gong (sometimes called Chinese Yoga) is not only a fabulous way to excercise, but is also very calming for the mind. I'll be teaching 2 more Qi Gong classes this month at: The Green Community Centre, Nunhead (next to the Old Nun?s Head pub), 5 Nunhead Green, SE15 3QQ. Tuesdays 18th and 25th.7.15 to 8.45 Only ?7 per class. Suitable for adults of all ages and genders / LGBT friendly. One of the aims of Qi Gong is to cultivate a sense of connection and community, so we usually go for a drink in the Old Nun's Head after class. If you would like to join us, or if you have questions please send me a text or WhatsApp message or email me (contact details below) Stephen from Thai-Vedic Massage https://www.thai-vedicmassage.co.uk 07950933150 [email protected]
  6. Tried Tai Chi but found it too complicated? Qi Gong is SO much easier: you just follow the teacher. Involving simple stretches, deep breathing and guided meditation you get all the 'mindfulness in motion' benefits of Tai Chi without having to learn a complicated sequence of movements. I've started weekly Qi Gong classes at: The Green Community Centre, Nunhead (next to the Old Nun?s Head pub), 5 Nunhead Green, SE15 3QQ. 7.30-8.30pm on Tuesday evenings. Only ?5 per class. Suitable for adults of all ages and genders. LGBT friendly. One of the aims of Qi Gong is to cultivate a sense of connection and community. If there is enough interest we can go for a drink in the nextdoor pub after the class. If you would like to join us, or if you have questions please message or email me (contact details below) Stephen from Thai-Vedic Massage https://www.thai-vedicmassage.co.uk 07950933150 [email protected]
  7. Hi folks. The weather is looking good this weekend, so a few of us from our East Dulwich based Qi Gong group are planning an afternoon of *Forest Bathing, Qi Gong and Guided Thai Yoga Massage* on Sunday. We are planning to go the National Trust managed - Petts Wood https://maps.app.goo.gl/RhoHRVtav3tfgcZy7. I propose we meet at *1.30pm* on Sunday at: Cow & Bean Cafe opposite Petts Wood station, that you can get to from Peckham Rye or Nunhead changing at Lewisham. https://maps.app.goo.gl/kguijT6ZShsKfLwX7 Just bring yourself, a packed lunch and something to lie on for the post Qi Gong meditation. (If you don't know what Qi Gong is it's Chinese stretching and breathing exercises, sometime called moving meditation). We'll also do some nature connection exercises and guided Thai Yoga Massage on the forest floor. This is a free event as I'm a newly qualified Qi Gong Teacher and Forest Bathing Guide so am just practising 🙂. Suitable for adults of all ages, limited places. If you are interested, let me know and I'll create a What'sApp group for attendees 🙂🌳🌳🌳🙂 Stephen from Thai-Vedic Massage https://www.thai-vedicmassage.co.uk/ 07950933150
  8. If you need a window cleaner, Jon of Jon Smith Cleaning Services, is punctual, friendly and professional. I would recommend him highly. Here's his website and phone number. https://www.jonsmithscleaningservices.co.uk/contact 07908 953257 Stephen @ Thai-vedic Massage
  9. I texted James on Saturday morning after finding his details and recommendation here. He replied within an hour and arranged to come yesterday morning to fix a light fitting, that I needed fixing before a reopened my massage business yesterday. I found him polite and professional and definitely recommend his services to 🙂 Thanks James 🙏
  10. Weather looks good for park dancing tonight See attached for where we'll be tonight @6.30pm And this is the kind of thing we'll be doing https://www.instagram.com/tv/CBta2XRJTVA/?igshid=1e2oktvrbcnnk
  11. We had our first dance party in the park this evening - just 2 of us to begin with, but it was SO much fun. It certainly got my heart pumping: it's not called "Sweat Fest" for nothing! I'm planning to host these "dance parties" every Monday, Wednesday and Friday at 6.30-7.30pm (directly after Qi Gong classes 5.30-6.30pm). If you would like to join us please private message me on here or text me on 07950933150, with your phone number and I can send you a map of where we do it/ add you to the WhatsApp group I'll try to keep the group size small (no bigger than the government approved 6 people) so I wont advertise the location here just yet 🙂 But we definitely have room for a couple more dance fans!
  12. Free "Follow Along" Dance Party classes in Peckham Rye Park? Its funny what new paths being in Lockdown for two and a half months leads you down. For me not being able to go to the gym for yoga classes (or to the Vauxhall Tavern to dance!) led me to look online for some exercise to do to keep fit and have fun at the same time. I stumbled upon Ryan Heffington (see -https://www.vogue.co.uk/beauty/article/ryan-heffington-instagram-workout) a choreographer from L.A. who has been treaming 60 minute "Follow Along" Dance Party classes on Instagram - with dance moves like "The Cowboy", "The Happy Hippy" and "The Grapevine". Not only do you get a good workout, you also end the class with a huge smile on your face. I've been doing these classes alone at home for a few weeks now, but it occurred to me that it would be a lot more fun to do with a few other people. And if I can follow along to the Qi Gong classes I've been doing in the park (just with my phone wedged between the branches of a tree, connected to a bluetooth speaker), then why not try it with dance classes too? Social distancing while we dance of course! If you are interested and not too afraid of having fun/ making a fool of yourself in public send me an email or text. If enough people are interested we can arrange a regular time and place to meet and ... dance ourselves silly! I dont intend to charge anything for these classes as its not like I'm a qualified dance teacher or anything. Its more a way for me to keep fit and have fun while I'm not working (I'm a massage therapist, so I wont be working for some time!) and while gyms are still closed.
