  1. Some new places opening soon on Rye Lane:

    • Cafe Britaly - a 'British Italian' cafe opening next week (8th May). Its situated near the south of Rye Lane, near Four Quarters in the venue which was formally Taco Queen and Supa Ya Ramen. https://cafebritaly.com/

    • There appears to be a Vietnamese cafe under works a few doors along next to Woodfall Opticians, according to a sign in the window, however I couldn't find an opening date or any info about it online
    • Thanks 1
  2. @Jasper_98 the housing development to the east of East Dulwich Railway Station was discussed a few months ago here:

You can check out the diagrams for the new development on Southwark's planning portal.

FYI there is a separate larger development planned to the east side of the station (not the west side of the station which St Francis Road sits)

  3. Admin note - in order to make it easier to read, the long running "New Shops in Dulwich / Peckham" topic has been split. The old topic with posts made prior to 2024 can be found here.

There is a new Malaysian restaurant called Janda Diner opening this week on 8th February. Next to the White Horse pub at the bottom of Rye Lane: https://www.jandalondon.uk/

Prior to the new year, they were serving food from the Man of Kent pub nearby in Nunhead, with apparently very good reviews.

I'm sure they will cover most of East Dulwich for delivery once they are up and running.

  4. Hi @Penguin68 ,  its fine to post technical issues in the Lounge, or use the Contact Us link at the bottom of the page.

We've have numerous spammers attempting to register on the site using VPNs lately. Furthermore, yesterday we had a suspicious user use a VPN to register and send private messages to other people who had posted in the 'Wanted' section of the forum asking for Paypal payments (obviously a scammer).

As a consequence, yesterday evening I blocked some VPN services from accessing the website. However, I am still figuring out the most appropriate way to block malicious activity like this and I certainly don't want to block legitimate forum members like yourself who have other reasons to use VPNs.

I have just now tweaked the firewall rules so your VPN service may be allowed again. Could you let me know if that's the case?

  5. To clarify:

For simplicity, its intended this forum board is for any debate or issue related to transport or roads. East Dulwich, Southwark, London-wide or even country wide. There will be no lounging unless the topic has absolutely nothing to do with these subjects.

However, as usual, please respect standard forum etiquette.

    • Keep on topic as much as possible. If someone makes a post about a specific local issue, please avoid replies which derail into a wider debate. Please start your own topic if you want to change the conversation.
    • Please be respectful when debating. Be mindful that other people may have a difference of opinion to yourself. Especially important in this forum board, as historically many of the topics here (LTNs, CPZs, ULEZ, cyclists vs drivers) provoke strong debate.

I have added this message to the top of this forum board for all to see (click the orange 'Rules for Roads & Transports' button at the top).

. It would seem a little unfair to mix in local issues with anything else anywhere that just happens to touch on roads or traffic.

At the moment I don't see the volume of new topics being created on this board to be high enough that local issues on this board are drowned out by the more general debate focused topics.

Having every single transport related discussion here is a much simpler concept for new members to understand and avoids me having to make an arbitrary decision if or when every topic in here gets lounged.

  6. Hi,

Quick way - go to this page https://www.eastdulwichforum.co.uk/messenger/

Alternatively you can access this page via the following methods:

    • On a laptop/desktop: click the envelope icon in the top right of the screen
    • On a mobile device (e.g. iphone, android), press the More icon at the bottom and then the envelope icon at the top

On this page, you can find all messages you have sent and received in a list. There is a search bar at the bottom ("Search Messages in this Folder") which could help you find an old message.

FYI there is no specific 'sent box' page. All sent and received messages are listed on that page and grouped per conversation, similar to what you would expect on a chat app such as WhatsApp etc.

  7. Thanks jazzer I appreciate it!

Many other independent local community internet forums have shut down over the last few years, with the rise in popularity of other platforms like Facebook, Nextdoor, even other local whatsapp groups. But I can assure everyone EDF will still be around for the years to come. Its been a pleasure to run this website🙂
