  1. Back to my earlier post. However wrong you may think the action is, it is very low level. You won't see me condoning it, but the response from many seems over the top. I'm enjoying the Glastonbury documentary, which refers to some direct action such as Greenham Common. Do watch it on i-player if you haven't seen it. I'm certainly on the womens' side who did help change history. But at time the press, Tory party and good citizens of Newbury demonised them. It will be interesting to see how history judges XR etc.
  2. Cheers Rah Rah. Generally reflect my views.

Driven zillions of miles and never had a blow out. Certainly wasn't great at looking after my tyres in my younger days. Vulcanised rubber is pretty robust, and just doesn't fail like some are suggesting.

You can argue that it is the wrong tactic in campaigning against emissions, but please don't use spurious information on tyre failure to justify your argument.

  3. My point was whether you can make businesses responsible for the litter, as opposed to punters. I'm sure there is some part of the world where this is common. However that could absolve individuals of their responsibility. Nigello I generally find you posts informative but it does annoy me when people use sweeping judgemental statements - 'low life scum'. This could be seen to apply to a large section of society...
  4. Tried not to post on this matter Mr/Mrs R but this is another level of ridiculousness. Working in London for many years an hour was a reasonable commute. Many spent much longer. You just manipulate everything to justify your immovable views. Hopefully won't post again, but you may put something down even more ludicrous.
  5. Good post. There is a discussion on whether Khan should have managed budgets better. Livingstone didn't stick to his commitments of conductors, and further reductions. But he will remembered for integrating TfL services through Oyster. We can forgive him for not slashing prices, the silly bendy buses but maybe not for his later behaviour. Johnson was asleep at the wheel when he was hoodwinked by government. Actually I don't think government was devious, rather the classic of him not bothered about detail.
  6. Mum's family used the number 16. They mainly used the bus including Green Line to Watford for the market. Her sisters and her never learned to drive, nor our grandparents. The 16 has now been truncated. As of course 63. 159 used to run to West Hampstead. But as pointed out the average passenger journey is short, around two miles. So few needto go the old end to end

As a kid went for an event at Charlton FC, 16 to Victoria, 185 to Lewisham or thereabouts, then bus onto Greenwich. Very excited to pass a large football ground and a passenger informed me that it was DHFC. Little did I know I'd live near by ten years later. mum's family was allergic to South of the river.

I'd do it by tube and train now.

  7. I've used the buses for decades and often prefer them to faster public transport. Most only use them for short hops as opposed tone eg Vauxhall Bridge Road in 185. No doubt that is included in the analysis and consultation. Just at Peckham Rye in Overground and getting off at Denmark Hill as service may be marginally better. Ps went on a Boris Bus yesterday, far more vibrations than the average hybrid and doesn't seem to go in pure electric mode. Not great use of London money former Mayor/PM
  8. Sorry to hear. Do report to the police, including the community police. Unlikely to take action on one occasion with limited evidence, but it helps build a picture if this becomes a trend. Also you can report to the school if it seems likely that this was Kingsdale. Particularly if they were in uniform. We had an incident a few years ago with kids from another school; they were prepared to take action.

  10. Please look at the reports tonight on the news. We simply don't have enough GPs and coupled with delays due to Covid the system is at breaking point. Is it fair to single out one practice? Yes I understand it is far from perfect

And if it is one specific member of staff please complain to the surgery, if that doesn't work, NHS England, the Health Service Ombudsman and your MP
