untilWildlife-friendly Gardening - with London School of Horticulture Saturday 8th November 2025, 10.30am - 1.30pm Rosendale Allotments Community Building, 227 Rosendale Rd, SE21 8LP The UK has become one of the world's most nature-depleted countries and as gardeners we really need to be part of the solution. There are many simple ways to make your garden or outside space more hospitable for wildlife. We will explore ways to create habitats for a range of creatures, look at what plants are best for attracting insects, understand the need to provide food and shelter for different stages of animal lifecycles and suggest different approaches to creating a year-round wildlife-friendly garden, that will bring pleasure to the gardener as well benefitting their environment. Participants will be able to tour the allotment site and identify beneficial plants and sow some to plant in their own gardens or outdoor spaces. Workshops held on Saturday morning in our Rosendale Allotments classroom with a maximum of 12 students. Cost: £49 Click here for more info & booking: 🌱Wildlife-friendly Gardening Workshop info - London School of Horticulture🌱

It reduces transporting waste to landfill, provides your plants with nutrients, protects the soil and is a valuable habitat for hundreds of invertebrates. Many people think you require lots of space or expensive containers, but this is not the case and there are a variety of simple approaches to composting. Participants will be able to look at different types of composting in the allotment site and discuss the suitability of different methods for their situation, including wormeries and the Japanese Bokashi method. We will also explore compost teas and demonstrate ways of making homemade plant foods. Workshops held on Saturday morning in our Rosendale Allotments classroom with a maximum of 12 students.
